The Lego Thread

Thought it would be fun to have a thread about Lego here on OS considering a good amount of us are into and enjoy Lego. Figured we could talk about sets we have built and post pictures. Even discuss new sets coming that we are looking forward to building.

So far, I have only built 2 sets for myself. The Ghostbusters Ecto-1 and The Big Bang Theory living room set. I have bought my son a few sets of vehicles as well. Mostly Lego City and Lego Superheroes.

November 1st Lego is releasing The Beatles Yellow Submarine set. Totally looking forward to getting that and building it.

Sometime before Christmas, I plan on purchasing 3 holiday themed sets and building a Christmas village with them. Will be fun to build and then take apart and rebuild again each year.

Now to find where to display these. Lol.

The Lego Thread

The only set I own is the coast guard set. I need to put it together since it's still in the box.

My friend at work is big into legos. He has a bunch of the bigger model type cars built.

Re: The Lego Thread

This is a great idea. My daughter (almost 8) really got into Legos this past year and I found it fun to watch the stuff that she was doing (just wish they'd stop making them all "girly") but also jealous at the same time because I wasn't allowed to help. Decided to pick up one of the 3-in-1 sets for a little nostalgia and found it to be really relaxing. Since then, I've put together about 5 of the 3-in-1 sets, a few of the "plastic bag-tiny" Star Wars ones, the Big Bang Theory set, the Louvre Architecture one, and a couple of the Speed Champion sets. The 3-in-1 sets were great for the wallet because I built each version once and then decided on a favorite and re-built that one. When I'm really into them, I'll do about a set a week but sometimes I'll go a month or two in between if life is really busy.

My son (5) really likes the idea but just doesn't have the patience for it yet. He did get pretty excited about the Speed Champion ones though and told me that he likes doing Legos with me on "guys' nights."

The part that I find especially cool is when I complete a step and think "there's no way that's right...but I'll stick with it for now" only to find out like 5 steps later that it was right after all and would never have worked the way I thought.

Re: The Lego Thread

The only ones I have put together are the Batmobile and the Back to the Future DeLorean. I have the Batcave and the Lord of the Rings inn in a random box in my closet. I have a bunch of older sets/pieces from the 90s in a big tote.

I also have The Simpsons house still in a box in my closet. I want to put it together, but I have no place to put it once its done.
