Can anyone teach me what the point of twitter is? I tried to explain it to some older women at work and i dont even know how to describ it. I would love to learn its use. (this thread only made my curosity worse and doesnt really explain much)

i don't have to go to a million sites for info...cnn, perez hilton, skysports (soccer), espn, gridiron fans etc. all update news as it comes so im up to date on everything...

Exactly. People think twitter is used so people can say what they are eating, or where they are at. It's much more then that. I follow websites, bloggers etc... I get news a lot quicker using twitter then anything else.

How do you retweet? Isn't it just putting RT infront of the post? I copy and paste it, or what do you do? Everytime I try, I never have the persons name as a link anymore.

I don't know when this thing became popular but you can't go a day without hearing the word Twitter now. You turn to CNN or something and they're even conducting polls and reading comments from it. I don't get the fascination but apparently it's the new thing.

I joined a week or so ago... @RyanASpencer.

I would describe Twitter as a interactive form of RSS feeds. I find it useful to follow different websites' Twitter pages so I can get updates quickly. It's also cool to see what people are talking about on a day-to-day basis, I've already discovered links to some great stuff through Twitter.
