Been hearing a lot about this game but have no idea what it's about. Is it similar to Skyrim?

From what I hear it is much darker and larger than Skyrim.

Not that I've seen much of it but I would figure Game of Thrones is a better comparison. It also has consequences for just about everything. In the second game you can get an entirely different chapter 2 based on your actions. Also saves carry over like Mass Effect.

3 will be its own story with no ties to either 1 or 2. At least, that's what I understood from the E3 presentation.

Are the 2 previous Witchers worth the grab? 2 was on my radar but my library was too big at the time. Having traded in everything for xbx1 and Ps4 i could use a game that will take a while to beat.
