Similar to how AT&T spun off Warner Bros.

Per a paywalled article on Puck News, EA has been in talks with several other entities about similar business dealings, including a proposal with Disney which would merge EA and a spun-off ESPN.

All that aside, I have absolutely no idea why this would be discussed in this thread? This would not invalidate any agreements between EA and the NFL / NFLPA, nor does it involve Take 2 in any capacity, much less their upcoming licensed non-simulation football game.

It could. A sale of EA could impact those contracts.

I could also win the lottery tomorrow.

Surely, any purchase of or merger with Electronic Arts would be contingent on the continued existence of Madden NFL, literally one of the best-selling and most widely-recognized video game franchises in the country, and a series which works in collaboration with the most watched television property on the planet. Come on now.

Not to mention, it is EA’s strength that makes them attractive to mega corporations. If anything, a willingness to buy the publisher of Madden means you really don’t care about 2K’s football game at all.

I don't expect them to drop 2k8's spiritual successor by going through loopholes, but I don't think not being simulation means they'll have to go the Blitz route.
