i'm not 100%, but i think you need to change source to cd, play a song and it'll give you an option to copy/add/make playlist. you'll need to do that with each mp3. once you've copied it over, you'll rename it from Track 1 or whatever to situation (i.e. fieldgoal). each mp3 has to be a playlist for the game to use it. kinda annoying.

i'd double check but i have no 360 right now.

u can only do 50 custom sounds so i wouldnt worry about doing 100-150.

itunes automatically burns ur cd as audio.

i agree about the over the network thing. all my music is shared over the network. would be a lot easier for me.
Because you CAN NOT rip MP3's off a disk on the 360, period. You make a music cd from the MP's and then rip that but you can't rip MP3's from a disk to the 360.

I posted this a while back in the stadium sounds thread: From XBOX.Com

Rip Music from an Audio CD
The process of converting tracks from an audio CD to a low-bitrate audio format and storing them as individual files is known as "ripping." The Xbox 360 console rips audio tracks to the WMA (Microsoft® Windows® Media Audio) format at 192 kbps. Ripping an audio CD with Xbox 360 requires an Xbox 360 Hard Drive.

Please note that existing MP3 and WMA audio files cannot be ripped or otherwise copied to an Xbox 360 Hard Drive, though you can listen to such files from recordable CDs or DVDs or from a connected storage device.
