I was embarrassed. Cain was shooting from distances like a middle school wrestler and JDS cardio was completely gone after defending 4 of the takedowns.

And then Cain couldn't put down a shot and gassed dead man walking.

It was absolutely cringeworthy for everyone involved and I had to do a ton of explaining for a few non MMA fans watching it with me.

I am just hoping it is all nerves between the two during the first two fights and now they can just get to a classic fight.

If it is like either of the first two, it will go down as the worst trilogy in the history of combat sports.

I guess.

Does anybody really care about the legacies of trilogies though?

Especially in MMA, where fights can end a split second after it starts.

The second fight was pretty lopsided, but it really wasn't all that bad. Cain put JDS into zombie mode quick.

It was an awful fight. And obviously Cain put pressure on JDS, but his cardio was atrocious for that fight. Defending a few awful takedown attempts should never zap your legs that fast at this level.

It was embarrassing for everyone involved.

Lol. Okay, we are getting into a suckfest debate but I would argue it doesn't count because of the no contest.

I think it is mainly because everyone is under the same banner finally.

Other than a "retired" Konrad and Kharitanov and a few other prospects not ready, pretty much every elite heavy worth a damn is in the UFC. Even though guys (ie Arlovski) should be in the UFC, there is really no one you could make a solid argument that is in the Top 20 that isn't in the UFC heavyweight wise. Volkov is nowhere near ready for the Top 20.

Hector Lombard v Nate Marquardt
Gilbert Melendez v Diego Sanchez

Not bad...
