The Polo Grounds Challenge

I've had the classic stadiums for a few years now and have always tried to hit a home run to dead center where it's like 583 feet with a very tall wall. Needless to say, I've never done it. I've gone deep just to the left or right of it, but not actually to the recessed part in dead center.

Anyways, fire up a game and hit for both teams or give it a go in HR Derby. Post a video and some screen shots if you pull it off.

Anyone think they can do it?

Played a HRD there. Needless to say, there was no HRs to center...

Re: The Polo Grounds Challenge

I try this every year to no avail. The closest I came was when they had the classic players. I hit one off the wall in center with Babe Ruth, but never got one over the wall.

Re: The Polo Grounds Challenge

I'm yet to play a game there but I've had a few practice sessions there whilst working on timing.

It's such a unique shape, it must be the only place you can hit a bloop homer.

Ive hit a few in the stair case in dead centre that the game actually counted as a home run in the 490 range. Have never cleared the wall in dead center though. You would have to hit the ball 500+ feet to accomplish that. Only ever hit one hr over 500 feet in hr derby, think it was in mlb 11 with Fielder in SF to left centre into mccovey cove 501ft.

Re: The Polo Grounds Challenge

Almost got one, it was a dead red, guess pitch correct, powered swing, fastball to CF... and even that wasn't enough to barely get the ball to roll up the steps and back down.

Re: The Polo Grounds Challenge

I don't think it's possible. It's like 480 feet and it's a high wall.

However, in MLB 11 I once did something that I've spent the entire last year trying to duplicate on camera, with no such luck... and what's worse is I doubt anyone will believe me until I can do it again either. With Babe Ruth at Minute Maid Park, I hit a home run off the lights in right field (the ones attached to the retractable roof overhanging). I'm going to try and make that happen this year, and this time I will have recorded it.
