Should have been a 58 (!!) He basically came <6 inches away in combined total putt distance from birdies on 16, 17, and eagle on 18. It was pretty disappointing actually, because I was really looking forward to seeing someone shoot a 59 at Pebble. Who knows if anyone will ever get that close again?

Yeah, once private capital acquires a big stake in an enterprise, it's usually the beginning of the end for anything fan-friendly. There will be changes, some of which are likely to be major changes, and almost all of which will probably be bad for consumers/fans. Oh well...that's how these things inevitably end up.

One other stray thought: will the players receive OWGR points for their finishes at Pebble this past weekend? Will Wyndham Clark's OWGR ranking go up in light of the win? Because it was a 54-hole event, which according to the OWGR powers-that-be, isn't eligible for OWGR points (per their argument against giving OWGR points for LIV events)...
