Gators win over LSU. Florida has kept a streak alive and stopped one. They keep from losing two in a row for the first time this season and they win their first game while being ranked this season. The voters kept the Gators in the polls this week, despite the loss, since it was a neutral site loss to a Top 10 team.

This game was even throughout. Gators lead by a touchdown at the half, but the Tigers scored the only points of the third, so it was tied headed to the fourth.

Bell scored from 2 yards out to put the Gators ahead. Then kicker Hill missed yet another extra point this season. No doubt Gators fans were worried this would end up LSU winning by a point, but the Gators forced them to punt and then ran the clock out.

The usual suspects lead the Gators in this one. Bell had 145 yards on the ground, scoring twice. Lewis finished just one yard short of 100 yards receiving and he caught 2 TD passes.

The NCAA was absolute bonkers last week. Undefeated #1 North Carolina lost at NC State. Undefeated #2 Auburn lost at Florida State. #3 Michigan lost at Michigan State. All of them were losses to other Top 10 teams, but still incredible to see all of the Top 3 teams go down.

Gator's Paul Bell is on the Heisman list, which is interesting. Bell is only 14th in the nation in rushing. Whereas Lui Lewis is by far #1 in the nation in receiving and is also #1 in the nation in TD receptions. Voters may think Lewis is a product of the system since Jones is #3 in the nation in passing yards. He's Top 10 in TD passes and has a good TD to INT ratio, 21 TD passes against 5 Interceptions.

In..... credible. For the second week in a row, both the #1 and the #2 have gone down. This time it was #1 Florida State who couldn't beat Appalachian state at home. The #2 Michigan State also went down at home, to unranked Middle Tennessee State. Another high-ranked Carolina squad went down; #4 North Carolina lost to #9 Clemson. All of this is interesting, no undefeated schools left. The Top 5 all have one loss, as does #8 Utah and #16 Oregon.

As far as the Gators go, they moved up in the BCS from #17 to #15 this week after a narrow win at home versus Kentucky two weeks ago and a bye last week. Coach Russ has also announced Freshman Kicker Brian Hill has lost the job to Junior Punter Cory Carter. Hill has really struggled this season, he's 8 of 12 on field goals and has missed 5 extra points this season.

The next two weeks will be interesting for the Gators. They're a solid 8-2 this year, but the last two of the regular season are against 3-7 Miami at home and 7-3 #13 Florida State on the road. Right now they're in the driver's seat for the Sun Belt conference title game. They have no division losses, with UCF having one and Florida State having one. The Gators are the favorites against Miami and Kirk Herbstreit has picked the Gators.

Disappointing. The Gators lose to a three win Hurricane squad in the Swamp. The defense was supposed to be the better part of the team this year and they've never shown it.

Two interceptions had the Gators down, but Dowdell caught a TD pass with less than a minute left in regulation. Maybe the Gators had the momentum, but it wasn't to be.

Both teams traded touchdowns in the first two overtimes. After a Hurricane TD pass, the Gators got stopped on 4th and goal to end it.

Gators go from losing at home to an average Miami team last week, to winning this week at Florida State. It was a comfortable win. Paul Bell was good throughout. It keeps with the Gators trend of losing when they're ranked in the Top 25 and winning when they aren't.

A few records were broken today. Lui Lewis broke two school records. First he broke the school record for receiving yards in a season and then he broke the school record for receptions in a season.

It wasn't enough though. Gators may have won, but so did UCF this week. UCF won at home against South Florida and will be headed to the Sun Belt Championship game.

It's speculated among the media that Coach Russ will need 9 wins each season to stay as coach of the Gators. This win against FSU gets him his ninth win of this season.

Florida Season Recap
Season ends on a good note, a ten point (simmed) win over Mizzou. The Gators finish 10-3 overall and 6-3 in the Sun Belt. They finish 18th in the Coaches Poll and 17th in the Media Poll.

They were chasing a conference title game most of the year, but fell up short. They finished a good 3-1 against Top 25 teams; with wins against #14 Appalachian State, #15 UCF in overtime, and #18 LSU in overtime as well and only the loss to National Champion Georgia in overtime.

At home they were 5-1 and 4-2 on the road. Paul Bell was a Heisman finalist, finishing with 24 touchdowns and 6.2 yards per carry average. Lui Lewis finished #1 in the nation in receiving yards, receptions, and yards per game. He also finished #1 in the nation in drops. He tied LSU's Ted Williams in most touchdowns in the nation. Lewis for his season was awarded the Biletnikoff trophy.

Lewis and Senior DT Chris Brown were voted as 1st Team All-American. Paul Bell and Senior LG Ricky Thompson made the 2nd Team All-American.

Related to Florida's season, Georgia State had quite the year. They finished below 500 at 6-7, but had huge wins at home over #17 Florida and Florida State. They also lost by one possession to Georgia Tech.

2020 Offseason Recap

Coaching Carousel: Lots of HC job offers, turned them down. Defensive Coordinators contact expired and Florida hired Pat Fitzgerald. OC PJ Fleck had his contract extended.

Players leaving: Junior ROLB declaring early for the draft.

NFL Draft: 9 players drafted. 3 1st Round rounders: DT Chris Brown, LE Travis Stewart, RE Terrance Massey. Lui Lewis went in the 2nd Round.

Final recruiting: #5 Class! Biggest signing are the #23 overall halfback Lionel Hutchinson from Castro Valley, CA and the #1 QB Keith Mills from North Bellmore, NY

Preseason
Poll: #32
Prestige: 5 Star
Conf Outlook: 2nd of 12
Championship Contenders: A+
Toughest Places to Play: 5

True freshman QB Keith Mills will start. Overall less talented than Junior Lawrence Jones but his speed should hopefully make up the difference. Jones is not good at moving around the pocket and scrambling.

Should be interesting. Our top HB, WR, and TE all graduated. Overall we're worse. Yet we're picked to be #1 in our division, moved from an A- to an A+ for championship contenders and The Swap is now 5th toughest place to play. Three years from now we're projected to be a juggernaut.
