Coming into this game both teams had a record of 4 wins and 4 losses. With the win, Georgia State moves to 5 and 4 while Western Kentucky falls to 4 and 5. Western Kentucky will travel to New York next week to play an out of conference game against the 3-5 Army Black Knights. Georgia State will have the week off, their next game against undefeated UL Lafayette at home. The Ragin’ Cajuns have a game next week against the 5-4 Troy Trojans who the Panthers beat earlier in the season.

First Batch of Recruits Commit to Georgia State

It has taken until Week 11 for the first recruits to commit to Georgia State, but a bunch did commit this past week during Georgia State’s bye. A total of eight recruits committed.

A pair of cornerbacks, 1 star Brent Henley from Douglasville, Georgia and 1 star Adam Harrington from Union City, Georgia. Out of the six cornerbacks on the roster, four of them are seniors so Georgia State is in the market for cornerbacks. Unfortunately, neither of these two look like future superstars, but will probably see plenty of playing time next season unless the Panthers can get a few more cornerbacks to commit.

Another pair of recruits, this time pure athletes. 3 star Walter Cantrell from Lakeside, California and 3 star Paul Andrews from Green Hill, Tennessee. Further evaluation is needed to determine what exactly positions they will play in college, but they both seem to have some potential.

The final four commits are 1 star JUCO center John Hall from Conway, Florida, 3 star outside linebacker Nick Butler from Mullins, South Carolina, 2 star free safety Aaron Rivero from Dayton, Kentucky, and 1 star JUCO defensive tackle Corey Fox from Dock Junction, Georgia. Again, none of these commits seem to be future superstars, but they also seem to have some potential.

As for recruiting news that’s not exactly Georgia State related but still relates to the team a bit, Carson Cross, the younger brother of Georgia State’s head coach, has committed to Mississippi State. Seems like Carson chose the Bulldogs over Alabama. Mississippi State and Alabama were the only schools that seemed to recruit Carson heavily and Mississippi State came out on top.

Running up the score? With Georgia State having no timeouts and a fresh set of downs, UL Lafayette could have easily took a knee and run out the clock. Instead, they run it in for another touchdown.

With this win, the Ragin’ Cajuns remain undefeated at 10-0. Did anyone expect UL Lafayette to be undefeated and ranked just outside the top 5 in the polls this late in the season? If you say yes, I don’t believe you. UL Lafayette is off next week, but finishes off the season against their rivals UL Monroe at home. Georgia State falls to 5-5 on the season as they travel to Arkansas next week to face Arkansas State. The Red Wolves are also 5-5 on the season.
