Seems pretty wild in 2023 for a studio to reject the live service model in favor of single player story driven. But I'm more than fine with it.

I'm for it as well. For them to go forward, they would have had to commit to allocating key resources to the live service model, taking away from their single player titles. I'm just glad that approaching 2024, a gaming company is prioritizing single player games over the live service model. I'm also glad they are working on a new IP. They said they were working on multiple projects and I'm assuming one of them is TLOU 3, but definitely want to see new IP from Naughty Dog

I'm undecided on the potential undecided PS5 PRO. I only got the PS4 Pro because my wife got it for me as a gift and I was having the disc eject issue with the base PS4. There needs to be a bigger jump other than just a more stable 4k60. At most, I would sell my PS5 and cover the the cost for the Pro. But, I wouldn't want to do that just for a slight visual and performance bump. If it can offer a native 4k60 with RT with more storage, than that's a start.

I think it is an incredibly savvy move to kill that project. The market is just inundated with live service games (many of them flop badly and failures can and have killed companies). Very few become such crazy smash hits that they become self-sustaining long-term; and they're usually pretty big surprises (pretty sure Epic wasn't expecting their company's fortunes to change completely because of Fortnite back when it launched - same goes for a game like Fall Guys...who woulda thunk?).

Frankly, we all know what Naughty Dog does well..tell engaging stories. And if you can tell engaging stories, you can sell a lot of games. I think you stick with what you excel at.
