Oh, they can very much so match in processing power. It's not a technical issue, its a license issue that holds it back. Playstation and Xbox consoles sell in the millions. For this platform, new licenses for players, leagues, and franchises get introduced. VR headsets, although slowly getting there, (think Meta at the moment) represents another platform that license fees would be associated with. VR headsets are nowhere close in number of units sold to justify such a fee. Even licensed games like NFL Pro Era Vr by StatusPro is created in an engine much less costly than compared to say UR Engine 5.1. It's just too costly at the moment to justify. I think eventually, it will happen. Meta has the resources.
There's one other path. Sony partnering with MLB and getting The Show on their PSVR2 unit. I'm sure that partnership can be had. It's the Players Union that still wants every $
