I hate Cuse, and hope they get hit hard for this whether they deserve it or not. That said, Yahoo really sucks. Spend months investigating some college kids smoking weed just to take down a team at the top right now.

Re: Syracuse Drug Scandal

I think the investigation was more focused on the pattern of dishonesty and disobedience by the university than the college kids who initially broke the drug rules.

The drug use isn't really the issue here, but rather, the cover up by the basketball department and the failure to enforce their own rules, especially the fact that this has (allegedly) been going on for over a decade.

Same way that getting tattoos wasn't really the big issue with Ohio State, but instead, the cover up by the university.

That's all true, I just think that there are tons of schools that if you snoop around, you will find patterns of dishonesty and disobedience over things much more serious than this.

It's the exact same thing they did with UConn, waited until the worst (or best for them) possible moment to release a potential damaging story.

Y!S is the scum of the sports reporting earth.

Re: Syracuse Drug Scandal

UConn got off real light, though. What did they lose, 1 scholarship and get put on probation?

I still don't understand how they were allowed to keep their national title. They shouldn't have even been in the post-season that year.

Lol @ the hatred towards Yahoo. Basically the only sports outlet that does any actual investigative reporting, and they get criticized because of "timing?" ESPN is a glorified TMZ channel now, and YAHOO is the scum of the sports reporting world? Classic.

Re: Syracuse Drug Scandal

If anything, people should be criticizing the NCAA for letting a news outlet outdo them in policing the major NCAA sports.

How is it that the term "NCAA investigation" gets laughed at, but when the words "Yahoo investigation" are brought up, it usually means a big violation is about to come to light?

Spare me, they always try to make these stories bigger than they actually are. It's wanna be investigative journalism, trying to find stories that aren't there or take minor stories and make them major. They make their "findings" sound so dramatic, so bad, lay out the possible negative outcomes and a few months down the line the NCAA barely does anything. They went crazy over the UConn thing, they went crazy over the Bernie Fine thing. This will be no different.

@weeman, why would UConn have lost their title in 2011 for an event that happened in 2008?
