Re: Building A Career: A NCAA Football Coaching Dynasty
Yeah it should be an interesting game. I'm curious to see how Wright will play now that it will be a whole game and not half of it. He was pretty good for not playing all season and being a true freshman. Nort Texas seems to be playing well right now, I hope it doesn't turn into the Middle Tenn or the Troy game

12/1 vs. North Texas
Defense stuffs North Texas in 28-6 season finale upset
FIU Football News The FIU defense, which ranks near the bottom of the nation's rankings in points allowed, stepped up in one of the biggest game of the season for the Golden Panthers. The FIU defense held the formerly 1st-place Mean Green to only 144 yards of total offense, 9 first downs and allowed only 1-of-14 3rd down conversions in a surprising 28-6 home upset. It was an impressive effort from the usually unpredictable FIU defense, holding the top team in the Sun Belt to basically nothing on offense. North Texas came into the game needing a win to clinch the Sun Belt title, but left the game out of the title race. The Panthers held North Texas to only 33 yards rushing n 35 attempts, collected 3 sacks and forced 3 turnovers, including CB Andre Paul's 4th interception return for a TD this season. With FIU up 21-6 in the 4th quarter, the Mean Green began to threaten with a long drive. But Paul stepped in front of a Ken Coleman and took it the distance to ruin any chance of a comeback. The FIU offense was decent in the win but it really didn't have to do much. The Panthers put up 282 total yards, including 153 on the ground, and got two offensive TDs to help keep their lead intact. Freshman QB Ian Wright, making his 1st career start, was off-target throwing the ball, finishing 8-of-18 for only 129 yards and 2 interceptions, but he threw a TD pass to J.J. Smith late in the 2nd quarter to give the Panthers some breathing room at halftime. The running game was led mostly by 3rd-string RB Ray Brooks, who totaled 111 yards rushing on only 9 carries, including a 61-yard TD gallop in the 3rd quarter. Starting RB Justin Peterson added 54 yards on 24 carries. Before the game, FIU honored the 8 seniors playing in their final game. CB Alex Galloway, G Clay Martinez, DE Jason Rodgers, DT Tyrone Wynn, G Leonard Jones, TE Malcom Cannon, FB Jeff Harper and FS Kyle Morales were honored in their last game in a Panther uniform. Galloway returned a 1st-quarter kickoff for a TD and Rodgers recorded 2 sacks to highlight the seniors. The Panthers finish their 1st season under head coach Kyle Borland at 3-9 overall and 2-5 in Sun Belt play. FIU will not make it to a bowl game this year, but with the majority of their starters returning next season, they should be a solid team. Re: Building A Career: A NCAA Football Coaching Dynasty
Congrats on the win. Looks like you got some mo going into next season. Hopefully Wright will give you some stability at QB so you won't have to worry about one for the next 3 years.
Boise State did that in real life turning the team over to a RS Freshman in K. Moore and he has responded with a amazing season. I believe this will be my 1st time in history that I a actually cheering for BYU to beat Utah. I had a friend play at Utah in fact we went to the BYU vs Utah game his senior season, but I am much more a BSU fan so I need Utah to lose so we can get a BCS game again. |

Re: Building A Career: A NCAA Football Coaching Dynasty
Well actually Wright is 3rd string, he was playing due to injuries. I have another freshman QB in Jean that played for the 1st 11 games, but he is much better than Wright.
But yeah it was a great game, and I'm looking forward to next season. I return like 17 of 22 starters. |
