Show 13 Initial Impressions

Posted 04-04-2013 at 04:47 PM by rudyjuly2
I had been playing Tomb Raider but am not finished. My brother lent me his Show 13 and I played around 3.5 games last night and this morning (two full games and then two 6 inning games). Initially I was expecting a bigger change between MLB 12 and 13 based on other people’s impressions. It looked and felt very similar.

Overview
The graphics looked the same to me although the colours might be more vibrant. I did see a couple cases of slight slowdown on some throws from...

Rudy's MLB 12 The Show Slider Thoughts

Posted 03-10-2012 at 10:40 AM by rudyjuly2
I wanted to post my thoughts on MLB 12 The Show’s sliders and what my early findings are with the default settings and how I’ve tweaked the game to fit more of my style. These thoughts could be used to fine-tune the game the way you want as well, even if you have a different opinion on how to fine-tune the game. Everyone has their own personal preferences both in features and expectations so this is certainly subjective. For me MLB 12 The Show was a little frustrating initially to set up the way...

Home Runs in Baseball Are Pulled

Posted 02-12-2012 at 07:09 AM by rudyjuly2
This is the one area of video game baseball that has always remained arcade like and a sore spot for me. Far too many home runs are hit to the opposite field. I saw an interesting stat that Orlando Cabrera retired with 123 career HRs and not a single one was hit to the opposite field. All 19 of Jose Batista’s HRs at the Skydome last year were pulled with a few hit to CF. None were to the opposite field.

Here are some hit charts for big sluggers like Jose Bautista, Albert...

MLB 2K11 vs. Show 11

Posted 05-04-2011 at 07:35 PM by rudyjuly2
After being frustrated with a few things in 2K11 like franchise fatigue (broken) and injuries (crazy number of them = broken) and a lack of ground balls, I played the Show 11 demo and decided to rent the game for two days. I played roughly three full games so it’s not a big sample size but I’ve also got years of previous Show experience (06 through 09). It’s pretty clear to me that there are strengths to both games and that I would suffer frustrations in both games so I will simply stay with 2K11...

MLB 2K11 Review

Posted 04-12-2011 at 06:34 PM by rudyjuly2
This review is written after playing almost 50 games of the retail copy. It deals exclusively with offline gameplay and does not touch My Player. There are many improvements to 2K11 over 2K10. There is no question that 2K11 is vastly superior to 2K10 in many ways but it still has some significant errors. Unfortunately the reputation of being a buggy and unfinished product is earned and 2K11 lives up to its past errors.

UNFINISHED AND BUGGY

There are some issues with...
