Tom Riddle Buys Blackeyes, Announces Plan To Move Team To Worcester, MA

New owner Pat Riddle

The National League announced in early January that 55 year old Pat Riddle planned to purchase the Syracuse Blackeyes from Billy Goff. Riddle, 55, is a popular civic leader and businessman in the Northeast.

Unenthused by the local support the Blackeyes received during their inaugural 1879 season, Riddle has announced that he plans to move the team to Worcester, MA and rename them from Blackeyes to Wrens.

The deal is expected to be approved by NL officials next week.

Re: A Fictional History of Baseball - 1871 - Present (OOTP 17)

August 1880 Recap

News / Trades
- Cal McVey had his hitting streak stopped at 24 games on August 7. The Athletes shut McVey down and beat his Boston side 3-0. McVey is hitting .355 with 37 RBI this season.

- Buffalo's George Bechtel, the subject of recent trade rumors, annoucned he was done speaking to the media on August 11. "It's hard enough when you find out from someone else a team may not feel you're worth keeping. It's harder yet when you have to keep talking about it and everyone keeps getting it wrong. I'm done. Now you have a reason to say some of the things you already have said about me," Bechtel said angrily as he left the locker room.
