Re: Return To Dominance: A New York Yankees Franchise (MLB The Show)

Oakland Athletics Sim Series Recap

Game 1: The first of three games was an exciting one that saw the Yankees and the A's playing into extra innings. However, Oakland would be victorious in this game as they defeat the Yankees by a score of 5-4. The Yankees tied it up in the Bottom of the 8th by scoring 2 runs thanks to Mark Teixeira and Carlos Beltran. But, Chasen Shreve would give up a run in the Top of the 10th which would be enough to give Oakland the 5-4 win. Oakland A's Relieve John Axford was awarded the win, which now gives him a perfect 3-0 record on the year. Chasen Shreve was given the loss and is now 0-1 with a 10.54 ERA.

Game 2: The Yankees jumped out to a 4-0 during the Bottom of the 3rd inning. They put another run on the board in the Bottom of the 5th to push their lead to 5-0. However, more bad pitching in the late innings of games loses this game for the Bronx Bombers as the A's scored 6 runs in the 6th, 7th, and 8th innings of this game. Oakland Starter Kendall Graveman was awarded his first win of the season, Doolittle recorded his 8th save of the season (which leads the MLB), and Yankee rookie Reliever Johnny Barbato was given the loss. The Yankees will now play another Game 3 of a series vs. an AL West opponent in hopes of not getting swept.

Game 3: The Oakland A's completed the sweep of the Yankees tonight as they defeated New York by a score of 6-2. Oakland A's Ace Sonny Gray pitched an absolute gem as he pitched 8 innings allowing 2 runs and struck out 8 batters. C.C Sabathia was given the loss as he only made it through 3.2 innings allowing 6 hits, 6 runs, and he only struck out 1 batter. His ERA is now at 8.59 on the year. Starlin Castro had the Yankees' only 2 RBI's in the game.

The Yankees fall to 7-8 on the season will now take on their Division Rival Tampa Bay Rays (8-8) in a 3 Game Series. The Rays just finished their series sweep of the Boston Red Sox.

Tampa Bay Rays: Game 1 Recap

Greg Bird launched 2 home runs and helped the Yankees take down the Rays, 10-7

New York's bats came alive in this one as they hit 5 home runs as a team as the Yankees defeated the Rays, 10-7.

The Yankees bats started heating up in the 4th inning as they scored a 8 of their 10 runs off of two different Rays pitchers. They also hit 4 of their 5 home runs in the fourth inning as well.

One of the more surprising performances for the Yankees came from backup 1st Baseman Greg Bird, who was the DH for this game. Bird went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI's bumping his average up to .312 on the season.

However, the Yankees' starting pitching continues to be mediocre at best as Yankee Ace Masahiro Tanaka gave up 7 runs in 6.2 innings pitched. His ERA is now up to 5.25.

Thankfully, the Yankees' Big 3 of Dellin Betances, Andrew Miller, and Aroldis Chapman have been lights out in the later innings from the bullpen all season. The three of them combined to let up just 1 hit over the last 2.1 innings of this game.

Re: Return To Dominance: A New York Yankees Franchise (MLB The Show)

Tampa Bay Rays Series: Game 2 Recap

Jacoby Ellsbury lead off the game in style as he jacked a home run over the right field wall.

Once again, the Yankees' power bats were on display as they hit 5 solo home runs to score their 5 runs in this game.

The 7th inning was key to this game as the Yankees managed to hit 3 solo shots. Brett Gardner and A-Rod went back to back, then Teixiera grounded out. After Teixiera came a top Yankee prospect, Gary Sanchez, who was called up as Brian McCann took a day off. Sanchez hit his first home run of the year and his first of his career in this game. So, 3 home runs in the span of 4 batters for the Bronx Bombers gave them the lead.

Yankee pitcher Michael Pineda had an overall solid outing as he threw 5 innings, allowing 4 runs off of 2 home runs, and struck out 6 batters. Surpsingly Chasen Shreve came in the game and despite walking 3 batters, didn't allow a run.

Re: Return To Dominance: A New York Yankees Franchise (MLB The Show)

Tampa Bay Rays Series: Game 3 Recap

Picture perfect night in the Bronx for Game 3 of the series

Tampa Bay's bats come alive in the 9th as they avoid getting swept by the Yankees, 5-2.

New York's only two runs came off a double into the right center field gap by Mark Teixeira in the bottom of the 6th inning.

Yankee Pitcher Luis Severino once again pitched a fantastic game as he allowed just one run in 6 innings pitched. His ERA is now 2.76 this season.

But, it was the bullpen that blew this one for the Yankees. New York held the 2-0 lead going into the 7th inning when Severino allowed a lead off home run and came out of the game as Andrew Miller took over Andrew Miller. Miller allowed the homer to James Loney which tied the game up at 2 in the 8th inning.

Dellin Betances came in the game and retired the first two batters he saw to end the inning. Instead of leaving Betances in the game, for whatever reason, the struggling Chasen Shreve came in the ball game... And that really hurt the Yankees.

Shreve allowed 3 Earned runs in just 0.2 innings pitched. Shreve also walked 3 batters in his short outing. His ERA is now at 11.00 for the season.

Next Up: After the Yankees got back on track with the series win over the Rays, they now hold a record of 9-9 on the year and will go on the road to play the Texas Rangers (7-13) in a 3 game series.

Re: Return To Dominance: A New York Yankees Franchise (MLB The Show)

Texas Rangers Sim Series Recap

Game 1: The Rangers blast 4 home runs in this game to defeat the Yankees in the series opener, 10-2. Prince Fielder, Joey Gallo, Ian Desmond, and Shin-Soo Choo all went yard for the Rangers in this one as they rocked Yankees starter Nathan Eovaldi and Reliever Ivan Nova. Both Eovaldi and Nova gave up 5 earned runs. However, Nova let up 5 runs in just 2 innings pitched. And it didn't help that he walked 4 batters. The Yankees offense on the other hand scored just 2 runs thanks to a 2 run triple by Left Fielder Brett Gardner in the Top of the 7th. Texas pitcher Yu Darvish was awarded the win and Yankee Pitcher Nathan Eovaldi was given his second loss on the season as his ERA is now 7.36.

Game 2: The Yankees bounce back in Game 2 of the series as they take this one 6-2. C.C. Sabathia had a fanastic outing as he pitched 8 strong innings allowing just 2 earned runs and striking out 5 batters. With this outing, his ERA drops to 6.35. The Rangers scored their only two runs in the 6th and 8th innings thanks to solo home runs from Delino DeShields Jr and Elvis Andrus. The Yankees scored 4 runs in the 6th inning thanks to a 2 run Brett Gardner double and a 2 run home run from Mark Teixeira. C.C. Sabathia (2-2) was awarded the win and Aroldis Chapman (6) was awarded the save and Texas pitcher Cole Hamels drops to 0-4 on the season with this loss.

Game 3: The Yankees come out victorious in Game 3 and take the series win as well as they defeated the Rangers by a score of 4-3. The Rangers got on the board early as Shin Soo Choo hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 1st inning. However, New York would respond as Carlos Beltran hit a two run homer to put the Yankees on top. But, right back came the Rangers as Joey Gallo hit a two run shot to give the Rangers the 3-2 lead. But, in the Top of the 8th, Chase Headley hit a two run home run to give the Yankees the 4-3 lead. So, Masahiro Tanaka's day was done after pitching 7 innings, allowing 3 earned runs. And in came reliever Andrew Miller who put the Rangers down in order and then Aroldis Chapman closed the game out. Tanaka (2-1) was awarded the win for the Yankees, Miller (3) was awarded a hold, and Chapman (7) got the save. Keone Kela was given the loss for the Rangers.

Next Up: The Yankees (11-10) will travel up to Boston (10-13) to take on their arch rivals in a 3 game series

Re: Return To Dominance: A New York Yankees Franchise (MLB The Show)

Yankees Trade For Nationals Reliever

New York, NY -- The Yankees' pitching, aside from the Big 3 and Luis Severino, has struggled in the month of April. So, the Yankees trade for a solid, left handed reliever from the Washington Nationals in Felipe Rivero (24 years old, 77 overall).

Rivero was recently placed on the Trading Block as he was unhappy in Washington. So, the Yankees traded three minor leaguers, all with C potential for the 24 year old.

This trade doesn't come as much of a surprise since the Yankees' middle relievers have not pitched well in the early part of the season.

It also helps out with the youth movement that is currently taking place in the Bronx. Every position starter, aside from newly acquired Starlin Castro and SS Didi Gregorius who was acquired before the 2015 season, are over 30 years old and have seen their numbers dip in recent years. So, Rivero will hopefully be a solid arm in the Yankee bullpen for years to come.

Re: Return To Dominance: A New York Yankees Franchise (MLB The Show)

Yankees Sign Everth Cabrera To 2 Year Deal

New York, NY -- The Yankees agree to a 2 Year, $6 Million contract with former NL All-Star Everth Cabrera.

Cabrera was signed due to the massive struggles at the plate by current SS Didi Gregorius. Gregorius is really struggling vs. left handed pitching as he's batting just .132 against southpaws this season. While Gregorius is better at hitting right handed pitching, the switch hitting Cabrera is better at hitting left handed pitching.

Not only that, but Cabrera can fly around the bases and the Yankees don't have a lot of speed on their current roster. So, not only can Cabrera be used as a Shortstop vs. Left Handed pitching, but he could also pinch run late in games to really give the Yankees a threat on the base paths.

Oooh, making moves early, I see. Didi's doing that bad for you? Hopefully I can hit better with him against lefties. Cabrera's a nice pickup, the Yankees could use some pace. I don't know if I'll make a similar move in Pinstriped, but I'm not ruling it out.
