Super Stickman Golf 3 REVIEW

Super Stickman Golf 3 Review (iOS)

When we last checked in with the Super Stickman Golf series, I was reviewing the second edition of the game back in 2013. At the time, mobile gaming was still trying to figure itself out, and the business model of free-to-play wasn’t completely established yet.

Fast forward to 2016 and Super Stickman Golf 3 has now hit the app markets, and if you loved the series last time, you are going to love it even more this time.

Most free-to-play games leave you with the feeling that you cannot really experience the fullness of the game without shelling out some dough. This is somewhat smart business it seems, but many pretty average to terrible games get by via making a ton of money milking consumers this way.

Super Stickman Golf 3 plays by this model, but actually mixes in platform-smart gameplay that will leave you wanting more. The courses themselves all offer a challenge, and while this isn’t a golfing sim, it is truly a golfing game.

For the uninitiated, Super Stickman Golf puts you in a world with zany side-scrolling, platform-like golf worlds. Each hole is more an individual puzzle, and in that realm it really honors the spirit of the sport in that way.

What you don’t have in golf but you do have in Super Stickman Golf are different worlds where you are challenged with a course-themed challenge. Some holes will feature portals, others sticky walls and others intense gravity shifts. These specific challenges will make you pause for a bit while you consider what you want to do with your shot.

New in this edition in the ball spin feature. Now you can give a shot back or front spin at just about any part of the ball’s flight, but an earlier commitment to a spin results in more of it. This adds a whole new dimension to shot making in Super Stickman Golf and there are actually holes where it’s literally required to be successful.

Just as with the last game, the graphics are spot on for what they are wanting to accomplish, and the music tracks add an incredible bit of ambiance. In terms of hitting the right notes, Super Stickman Golf hits most all of them perfectly.

Just watch for the ramping difficulty with the latter courses.

Final Thoughts

Super Stickman Golf 3 is a nearly flawless mobile title. Sure it has the free-to-play components, and you’ll want to use your ball power-ups a lot more towards the end courses (and that’s how they’ll get your money), but you may end up feeling like it's worth it -- if nothing else to reward Noodlecake Studios for a job well done. Super Stickman Golf 3 is one of the best mobile sports gaming experiences you can have today. With the free price tag, you literally need to just hop onto your favorite "app store" and download this thing today.
