MLB The Show 17 News Post

There was a new time-limited Diamond Dynasty pack released for MLB The Show 17 on Friday. It is the Bases Loaded pack. It comes with one guaranteed Silver player, double the chance of a Gold player and triple the chance of a Diamond player.

You can buy a limit of four packs, and they cost 4,000 Stubs per pack. I opened up a single pack and Nolan Arenado was the first card I pulled. Your luck probably won't be that good, but hey, there's hope.

I bought four packs and got three silvers and a bunch of bronzes.

You have all been warned. Proceed cautiously.

Bought 4 packs, got literal garbage

I think there is some sort of mechanic that rewards the 'casual' player, hoping to hook them more by giving them better players.

One of my best friends pre-ordered the same package I did (he hadn't played since like 14) and he got completely hooked up. Pulled Familia, Segwhan Oh, De Grom and a full line up of all silver players. He plays an exhibition game against the computer, reward card is Josh Donaldson. Yep the Diamond.

I barely even get bronze players. I actually got really excited when I got Hunter Strickland as a reward, he responds by telling me that was another of his pre-orders.

This is the first year I have ever bought this game at launch. The only other time I've gotten it AT ALL was last year, which I got for $20 at BB during a B2G1. I played it a few times, but that was it.

I got the MVP Edition on a pre-order, so 20 packs included. I got an Ian Kinsler in my 20th pack, only Gold player I pulled. I think the second-best I got was Hisashi Iwakuma.

Bought a pack for giggles and got squat so I would save the money tbh because it is only 4 cards so your chances are low no matter can be in there.

Bought 4, got a diamond Chris Sale.

Yeah I mean my feeling is always just save up and buy the players you want, but it can be fun to do a mystery opening of at least one pack just for kicks if you got some spare Stubs.

This year it's easier to justify spending on a pack here and there as it's easier to get Stubs.

Agree completely, bought Manny Machado and was much happier than hoping and wishing.

As for these packs bought 4...0 golds, 0 diamonds.

Any "Bases Loaded" pack that doesn't include Paste, the .467 batting, 60 home run clobbering hero of Jersey is a wasted pack.

Pulled two of these, got one silver and bronzes on each. I'm having really good luck pulling silvers in standard packs lately though. Wonder if there is any correlation

And don't forget his lineup protection Bay!!! I bet I played 1000 games of bases loaded complete with my own stat tracking. Ah those were the good ole days LOL

Bought 3 packs and only received the three guaranteed silvers and 9 bronzes. Definitely a waste of stubs!! Like buying three expensive lottery tickets. With the stated odds I should have gotten at least one gold or diamond card. I wonder how accurate the stated odds are!!

There is no way gold or diamond are guaranteed. Because that would mean the regular odds are 50% for gold, and 33.3% for diamond, and we are all very aware that it is not even close to that. And by not even close I mean about 1% of what I've written there.

You are guaranteed a silver. And statistically, your odds of getting a gold or diamond are actually worse than from regular packs, when you take into account the price of the pack and the number of cards in it.

I bought 4 packs and got a Buster Posey platinum. The best card I've pulled in a pack since I started this with last year's game.

Yeah if Diamond odds are normally 1% etc. then tripling them doesn't mean much and so on.

Purchased a Bases Loaded pack tonight and pulled a Diamond Francisco Lindor (91 OVR). Cannot believe this happened as I have never gotten a diamond level player in a pack opening.

I did the same thing. I used one of those old composition notebooks. And then Baseball Stars came out and it kept season stats and I was in 9 year old heaven.
