Madden 12 News Post

EA has put out a press release giving more information about Browns RB Peyton Hillis' victory in the Madden NFL Cover Tournament and more detail about new features in Madden NFL 12.

Quote:
"Peyton Hillis, running back for the Cleveland Browns, was selected by millions of fans across the country to grace the cover of Madden NFL 12. Hillis, a No. 10 seed, defeated former Madden NFL 04 cover athlete and No. 3 seed Michael Vick (QB, Eagles) in the finals of an unprecedented campaign with ESPN.com and SportsNation that allowed fans to determine, by an online vote that was open to the public, the player to be featured on the cover of Madden NFL 12 when the game launches on August 30.

• Franchise mode includes more than 100 new features and enhancements, including expanded rosters, an all-new rookie scouting system, a free-agent bidding system, and more.

• In Superstar mode, fans can now control the growth of their superstar with an all-new progression system that allows you to earn skill points by participating in practice and games. More details on Franchise and Superstar modes will be released on May 16."

Franchise sounds like it will be just like HC09. That would be amazing, and Dynamic Player Performance has me really excited.

Its good to see expanded rosters. It would of been funny (but good), if they said working IR as anew feature. Dynamic Player Performance sounds interesting as well. I cant wait to hear more about this

Expanded rosters has to mean 80 man rosters cut down to 53 before the season starts. Atleast I think thats what it means, I hope thats what it means.

That would be amazing.

As long as IR is fixed, I'm good. They can classify it as a new feature all they want to as long as it works I won't complain. lol

Wow. I am really really excited for Madden 2012. We are going to get a great game. it really looks like they did some serious overhauling in presentation and franchise is going to get a lot of love.

Can't wait for May 16th to get much more information.

Stoked about the new collision/tackle system.

Stoked about newly tuned defensive AI

Stoked about field and uni/equipment degradation

Stoked about dynamic player performance

Stoked about the broadcast cameras.

Just STOKED!!!!!!!

Yeah that's how I took it as well. If they fixed IR specifically, it would have been easy and short to say "IR roster impact" or something like that, but given how they worded it, I assume it's the 80 to 53 cuts.

"including expanded rosters"

WOW...maybe they are actually trying this year!

I've been blown away by the Madden info today! Still want to see some more gameplay vids, but everything has been music to my ears.

This is starting to look like a GREAT year for Football games.
If I like what I hear on May 16, I might be getting both games

Dynamic Player Performance

• Dynamic Player Performance is an all-new feature that creates unprecedented realism as a player’s skills and confidence will rise and fall based on his performance throughout a game or in Franchise mode, just like the real NFL. No two players will play the same in Madden NFL 12, and more details will be revealed at the E3 Expo on June 6.

Now this has me excited

EA is just killing it so far with everything we know about both their football games this year.

I couldn't be more excited. Love the Franchise news.

I'm going cry with joy, finally!!!

Wow. Expanded rosters finally! That means the IR (hopefully) will work correctly.
Maybe this will be the year. Hopefully the glitches/bugs wont be all serious so people can't say the game sucks.
There's always gonna glitches or bugs but I have faith none will be game killers.
Thanks EA.

Word! It's like they "found" all of our wishlist under an old stack of papers or something. I haven't been this happy to read Madden info in... ever.

Some vids would be nice. I almost can't believe some of this.

Quote:
Advanced Defensive AI: Over 100 defensive A.I. enhancements resulting in the smartest Madden defense ever. Players in zone and man coverage will properly recognize and react to plays, including the ability to break out of assignments when appropriate, resulting in a defensive team that truly works together.
100 AI enhancements? I wonder how they cound these. Improved zone, man, reaction to double moves, shading DBs separately, pressing DBs separately...

I hope bringing the SS in the box has it's own control.

Finally, some defense!

With the info being released, this might be the 1st year since... damn, 2005 that I played a franchise in Madden. And I'm a franchise guy, but I just haven't liked the game enough recently to play one.

This likely just became a day 1 buy for me. Maybe even worthy preordering.

# 19 davel @ 04/28/11 11:40 AM
wow, so far

# 20 Icarus2k9 @ 04/28/11 11:41 AM
Wow. Wow wow wow.

The thing that actually excites me is that the amount of information that came out today, if NOTHING else was improved about the game, is enough to make me give this game a shot.

Also, it feels as if the new three-year plan for Madden is kicking in already, not just "this year will be nothing special because of the switch mid-season to a new approach" - it's actually happening now.

It feels weird that we've been told for a long time that Pro-tak was the way to do tackles, or that the ball couldn't be scaled down, or the expanded rosters were too hard, or the shading defenders wasn't a realistic move, and so on and so forth....and now we're getting it all?

I genuinely have to calm down over this because it's just a game after all, and the Madden hype train is in full effect....but holy hell. Just looking at the words "100 improvements to franchise mode" - we had 85 new features TOTAL not too far back.

EA, keep doing this every year please.
