When you guys break it down like that, the whole thing sounds so ridiculous and this is why the supernatural stuff shouldn’t be in wrestling because WWE doesn’t know what they’re doing

That’s a bit of an all or nothing take. WWE has no idea what they’re doing? Ever? The Funhouse match was cool, the Boneyard match was awesome, most of Brays stuff worked, the Kane and Undertaker stuff was always great.

You get some hits and you get some whiffs. I’m sure this Balor thing must have looked a lot better on paper. Not sure how, seems pretty dumb no matter how you look at it. But to say supernatural stuff has zero place in wrestling and WWE just flat out has no idea how to do it? Seems a bit over the top to me.

"Supernatural" stuff has been around since Undertaker & should remain when appropriate.

I knew that finish would be hated & be "buried" by (cynical) fans.

Like my older brother (who's a casual fan), wrestling is meant to be fun and sometimes outlandish/silly.

Unfortunately, WWE has built up a lot of "ill will" and many of their fans are jaded so they can't suspend even a little disbelief.

Which is ironic since this is professional wrestling and you literally need to suspend your disbelief to get into any of this.

Re: WWE Extreme Rules 9/26/21

The best description I saw was it was an anime style ending that would’ve been legendary had he followed through and won. Instead we got a dud…and I agree with that take

I was thoroughly sports entertained by the finish, especially Balor convulsing on his stomach like Apollo Creed in Rocky 4 when his music started playing. I could have done without the music stopping and the regular lights coming back on the second the rope broke

Oh I was 100% into the music and the “powering up” and was ready to go nuts if he won. It was entirely the rope thing that I found lame and horrible

Re: WWE Extreme Rules 9/26/21

A lot of this PPV felt like a televised house show.

The main event was great though. The ending fell flat to me though. Just seemed weird that he's "powering up" with the demons heartbeat and all that stuff happening, all just to have the rope break and make it look almost like a botch at first.

But the spot right before that was great.
