"The birds on the bat need to get stronger" - A Cardinals Franchise

Console: PS4
Rosters: OSFM v1

The Cardinals, who finished 100-62 in the 2015 campaign, come out of the 2015-2016 off season with their heads held high with confidence in their new players. GM John Mozeliak upgraded the small areas, such as the bench, but some fans think he did not cover the areas of specific need. A big hitter, and monster pitcher.

2015 off season review

Additons

SP Mike Leake
Leake, who was traded from the Reds to the Giants at the deadline last season, signed a 5 year, 80 Million dollar contract on December 22nd, 2015. He is figured to be the #5 starter, but is a workhorse, and will guarantee you about 180 Innings a season.

Sueng-Hwan Oh
The Final Boss as Oh is known over seas in Korea and Japan, comes over from Korea, where he leads in career saves, with 351. He gets a one year deal, and figures to be the 8th Inning Setup Man, and the closer if there are complications with Trevor Rosenthal.

Eric Fryer
Nothing much to him, he is penciled in to start the season as the back up catcher until Brayan Pena returns in Mid-May. A career minor leaguer, the 30 Year old will try to play well enough to keep the spot after Pena returns.

Jedd Gyorko
A Cardinal killer in his past, Gyorko will come and be the Utility man the Cardinals needed. Having Pete Kozma before, who was a liability at the plate, Gyorko can play 2nd, 3rd, and Short. He was aquired in December for Jon Jay from the Padres.

Carlos Peguro
Nothing much to say. Split his very little major league time with the Red Sox and Rangers last season. Another career minor leaguer, the 29 year old has plus power, but very bad contact, and will more than likely serve as depth to the Cardinals.

Ruben Tejada

5 years a Met, Tejada was released by New York, and a day later picked up by the Cardinals. He was planned to serve was the shortstop while Jhonny Peralta was on the shelf. He injured himself late in Spring Training, and will start the season on the DL until late April.

Brayan Pena
A career backup catcher who was signed to a 2 year deal with the Redbirds to backup Yadier Molina, but injured himself in Spring Training like many of his teamates. He is penciled to return in Mid-May, and be in the role he was signed to be.

Departures

Jon Jay - Padres
Jason Heyward - Cubs
John Lackey - Cubs
Matt Belisle - Nationals
Randy Choate - Remains Unsigned
Carlos Villanueva - Padres
Mark Reynolds - Rockies
Peter Bourjos - Phillies
Tony Cruz - Royals
Pete Kozma - Yankees
Steve Cishek - Mariners
Ed Easley - Pirates

Key Rookies
Jeremy Hazelbaker:
Hazelbaker is 27, and came into Spring Training expecting to be called down, but hit very, very well, and is now on the major league squad. He will be very important to this team.

Aledmys Diaz:
Diaz is now the shortstop after injuries to Tejada and Peralta. He looks to keep his spot on the team until then.

CARDS LOSE THE OPENER

Tough loss for the Cards today, falling 5-2 to the Pirates on Opening Day. Gerrit Cole was dominant today, striking out 13, allowing 4 Hits and 8 IP. The Cardinals offense was lead by two homeruns, one by the Center Fielder Randal Grichuk, the other by the leadoff man, 3rd Basemen, Matt Carpenter. Carpenter also had a double. Adam Wainwright pitched 7 innings, allowed 9 hits, 4 Runs, all earned, no walks, 4 Strikeouts, which puts him at a 5.14 ERA. Jonathan Broxton came in the 8th for an inning, allowing 1 hit, 1 run, earned, no walks, 1 Strikeout, putting him at a 9 ERA. Mark Melancon notched the save for the Pirates. The Pirates scored 3 on an Inside the Park HR to Starling Marte, a Homer by John Jaso, and a run scored on an error. Fransisco Cerevelli was also 2-4 with 2 doubles, and David Freese also hit him self a double.

The Cardinals also committed an error.[/color]

Re: "The birds on the bat need to get stronger" - A Cardinals Franchise

Cards lose an ugly one.

This is one game the Cardinals would like to forget, losing 9-0 in a blowout victory. Fransisco Liriano was PERFECT for the Pirates, allowing 6 hits, no runs and striking out 7 for the complete game shutout. Jaime Garcia on the other hand... not so much. Going 3.2 Innings, allowing 10 hits, 8 Runs, all Earned, and only striking out 1. This puts his ERA at a less than stellar 19.84. Tyler Lyons pitched 1.1 Innings, allowing a run and striking out 3. Seth Maness came in for 2 good innings, not allowing anything besides a walk. In the 8th, since it was 9-0, the Cards pitched Matt Adams to save their bullets out of the pen. Offensively, the Cards had 6 hits, notably, Holliday and Adams, both having doubles. Again, the power stroke is still there for the Buccos, hittinh 2 HRs, one by Andrew McCutchen, and another by Gregory Polanco. Starling Marte and Franciso Cerevelli also hit well, each having 2 hits and an RBI. Defense was bad for the Cards, commiting 2 errors, one by Matt Holliday, and another by Kolten Wong. Josh Harrison also left this game with an arm injury. Pedro Florimon will be called up in response.

Scores and Transactions around the League.

Pirates Place Josh Harrison on 15-Day DL, he broke his arm.

Not trying to be a d*** or anything, just trying to improve your dynasty so it is more appealing to others. It is lose, not loose. Loose is like saying, my pants are loose because I forgot my belt. Lose is, We lost the game today because the opposition scored more points.

Following.
