Re: Project CARS: Best Control Pad/Steering Wheel Settings

I picked some xbox one's settings from PC forums. Very solid. Actually getting lap times similiar to AI.

Can you please post your exact settings, dude? I'm exasperated trying to find a good controller setup before SMS issues the control patch, hopefully soon.

Thanks!

Re: Project CARS: Best Control Pad/Steering Wheel Settings

I'm not super great at the game, but here are my settings (PS4) -- they are a mix of some popular settings I've found around the net (largely thanks to user Supaaafly, in particular).

If you are like me, i.e., a late braker, and you don't use the brake on your gamepad like an actual brake pedal (meaning, you don't gradually apply the brake), and you intead *slam* the brake trigger to the floor like I do ... then these settings are working out really nicely for me:

Code:
Input Mode: 3

Steering Deadzone: 10
Steering Sensitivity: 0

Throttle Deadzone: 0
Throttle Sensitivity: 0

Brake Deadzone: 0
Brake Sensitivity: 100

Clutch Deadzone: 10
Clutch Sensitivity: 45

Speed Sensitivity: 75
Controller Filtering Sensitivity: 60

Advanced: On
Soft Steering Dampening: On
Visual Wheel Filtering: On
Opposite Lock Help: Off

Re: Project CARS: Best Control Pad/Steering Wheel Settings

I'm enjoying these two sets:

Steer DZ 5
Steer Sens 20
Thrott DZ 0
Thrott Sens 50
Brake DZ 0
Brake Sens 30
Clutch DZ 10
Clutch Sens 45
Speed Sens 65
Ctrl Filt Sens 45
FFB 80
Mode 3
Advanced On
Steer On
VisWheelFilt On
Opp Lock Off

I'm using these with Real assists -- only those used on car in real life -- and auto tranny. I can accelerate without a ton of wheelspin, brake without lockup and catch slides with this configuration. Very modular feel. Closest I've experienced to Forza 5 or TOCA 3.

Give them a go if you haven't found a suitable configuration. Found these on Reddit, of all places!

**************************************

Steering
DZ 0
Sens 15

Throttle
DZ 0
Sens 45

Brake
DZ 0
Sens 40

Clutch
DZ 0
Sens 45 (these don't matter)

Speed sensitivity 75
Controller filtering 0 to 15. With some cars, the tiny bit of filtering helps the twitches. But I found leaving it at 0 to 5 produced the best results across vehicle classes.

FF 80
Controller 3
Advanced off.

Same with the real assists, so I'm curious if some people like the 'no filtering' method and no dead zone, or if more people are used to some dead zone and slightly laggier input using a controller.

Re: Project CARS: Best Control Pad/Steering Wheel Settings

Guys,

Have a car setup question. I am finding it difficult using the controller and making sharp turns, feels like I am driving a bus and can only make wide turns. Are there settings to improve this?

Re: Project CARS: Best Control Pad/Steering Wheel Settings

That's usually the controller filtering making it feel that way, if the car feels like it takes too long to turn.

However, if you leave it turned hard over and it still won't turn, there's usually a Steering Ratio option in the setup utility in racing games. Lower numbers=tighter turns.

Was typing too fast when I posted this (sorry for the edit). But a clearer description is this. The steering ratio controls how much you turn the wheel to get the wheels to turn X degrees. So with a 14:1 you'd have to turn the wheel 14 degrees to have the tires change 1 degree. Something like 28:1 would be twice the steering wheel movement to get the same amount of turning on the tires.

But you get snappier response with a 12:1 than you do with a 20:1, so I haven't looked in PCars setup, but if you feel the car isn't quick enough responding, I'm sure there's an adjustment for that. If it EVENTUALLY comes around and can turn tight, but you feel like it's a progressive thing where you can see the turning radius get tighter the longer you hold the stick over full lock, then that's probably a filtering issue in the control settings.
