Any help or tips much appreciated.
I went last year for the beginning of the season and got tickets to both Chelsea v Aston Villa and Manchester City v Newcastle through the websites AFTER I landed in London earlier that week.

For both clubs, I signed up to their websites. For Man City's site, you could view what seats were available in each section...only one available at the time was behind the goal, upper tier for £47. Paid for the ticket online, printed the receipt and collected the actual ticket at the stadium box office just before kick off.

For Chelsea's site, I don't recall having an option to view the stadium seating chart...so what I did was emailed the club saying "I am visiting from Australia and am looking to buy 3x tickets together" when it was pretty much sold out. The next day, a guy from the club called me and said they had 3 seats together available! Side view, but again upper tier, they were £61 each. Again printed the receipt he emailed me (after paying over the phone) and picked up the tickets on game day at the stadium.

A year on and I'm still getting weekly emails from both clubs

I'm reminded of how much I hate that time zones get in the way of sports. *sigh*
