Tocchets numbers include playoffs though, Shanahan has regular season mark.

2 games in, Leafs have been far from playing the level fans have hoped for.

Some more crazy results. Blues beat Avs 4-1 on Wednesday. Friday was the rematch. Avs won 8-0!

I expect we'll see a fair amount of instances like this where back to backs have diff results.

In a normal season, this is something I've been hoping for too. We know teams hate back to backs, fans especially hate it when their team has to play the 2nd night of a back to back against a team who didnt play the night before. Back to backs vs the same team would level the playing field and carry over any bad blood from night 1 into night 2.
Canucks play Calgary for 4 consecutive games next month and 4 straight vs Ottawa in April. It's very jarring to see a single game here and there in what is essentially a baseball schedule.

Only thing that seems weird is how it's not consistent.

Theres an instance where Leafs play Edmonton one day in Edmonton, get a day off, play them again the next day, and the very next day they travel to Calgary to play the flames.

Why couldn't it just be back to back vs Oilers, day off, then play Flames?

Leafs win 2nd game of year. Campbell as the backup has been better than Andersen so far. Wouldn't be opposed to more starts for now (especially given Andersens horrible starts to every season). Leafs still giving up too many good chances though. They need to get it together asap.

And its great having HNIC back. 11 months it's been gone! Outside of 04/05 lockout, I haven't gone this long without it (and even then, they at least aired hit movies every Saturday as the replacement, which was more special back then in the pre streaming days).

Speaking of their next game...when will it happen? Jets status unknown for Mondays game, and they have to fly to Toronto tomorrow, so we'll see if it happens.

Now this is weird and shocking.

Leafs waived Spezza.

He's played in all 3 games so far this season and went 10 for 10 from the faceoff circle last night.

But his agent said if any team claims him, he's gonna opt to retire over join their team. So looks like Leafs doing this move to get some roster flexibility. Spezza clearing waivers lets them put him on the taxi Squad and not have to go through waivers again, unlike most other guys on their team.

Re: The Official 2020-2021 Season Talk Thread

Looking at the Calgary vs Vancouver game last night it looked pretty obvious it wasn't a smart move by Vancouver letting their MVP (Markstrom) and their best shot blocker (Tanev) go to Calgary.

Both were great and Vancouver looked like a bottom team.

Will be interesting to see if they can bounce back and it is still early in the season but Holtbys stats are already looking like they did last season while Markstrom will probably be even better now that he actually has a team that can play defense infront of him.

Another thing bugging me is Hoglander getting top six exposure and top minutes while they couldnt even give Dahlen a chance when he was in the organisation.

Perhaps another north team should aquire him just to have him retire to give Toronto some headache... :P
