"There was no penalty called on Cooke for the hit. And Savard was frustrated when Colin Campbell, the NHL’s vice president of hockey operations, didn’t suspend Cooke. He was later surprised that Campbell called him a “fake artist” in an email that became public."

I never knew this.

What a piece of dog**** Colin Campbell is.

The best part is they removed the blindside hit from the rulebook (see Kadri hit).
Because, as everyone knows, people show up to NHL games to see someone laying on the ice, concussed.
Hey, if you can't provide entertainment through skating, passing, deking and nice goals, you have to sell something to the fans right?

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

Interesting article on Sportsnet talking about potential names for other new teams in the NHL.

Coyotes had Mustangs,Outlaws,Wranglers and Freeze as potential names

Avs also considered Extreme,Outlaws,Storm,Wranglers,Renegades,Rapids,C ougars

Jackets were almost named Columbus Justice.

Wild considered Blue Ox, Northern Lights, Voyageurs, White Bears, Freeze

Preds considered Ice Tigers, Fury, Attack. Those were their final 3 choices. Their owner added Predators and went with it.

Sharks were gonna be called the San Jose Blades(as that was the 1st place finisher) but opted for Sharks instead

lol, don't know the obsession with Wranglers or Outlaws, but funny how Vegas didn't even consider either of those given how Wranglers was their ECHL team name.

Mustangs wouldn't have been bad name either for Phoenix, but like they chose Coyotes. I guess in hindsight it'd probably be weird hearing Colorado Cougars or Renegades, but they weren't so bad names either. Blue Jackets or Justice, either way, still seems like weird name for a major pro sports team, even if there is big reasoning behind it. Wild with any of those names would be weird, but so is Wild too though. White Bears maybe, but then Minnesota cheering a Bears team in one sport, hating them in another(NFL). And then other options like Nashville Attack, San Jose Blades, all sound like a minor league hockey team.

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

I thought the Preds were named that because they found a fossil while building the arena? Maybe that's just the logo.

Nashville Attack. Lol
