I get the feeling that whoever loses this game will win if these two teams meet in the medal round.

That was a big goal. Down 3 might have been insurmountable.

Maybe it's my USA glasses, but man I feel like that should not have been a goal.

How does Demko have a chance to find the puck when he's got a guy running into him?

Borderline. Puck is already in the crease, goes off Demko, then Lazar's pants as he's making contact with Demko. Most of the NHL goals called back in that situation involve a second offensive player preventing the goalie from moving in the crease or a player obviously shoving the puck and goalie into the net. Dunno what the IIHF standard is. My guess is that goal would count at least 75-80% of the time in the NHL. Regardless, the interference would have to be called on the ice; the only thing reviewable on that play was whether Lazar directed the puck into the net with his glove or skate.

Barring something unforeseen in the next few hours, here are the QF matchups on Friday.

1pm EST: USA vs Russia (Montreal)
3pm EST: Sweden vs Finland (Toronto)
5pm EST: Czech Republic vs Slovakia (Montreal)
8pm EST: Canada vs Denmark (Toronto)
