If it allows Henrique to be resigned more easily, perhaps it's a bit of a blessing in disguise?

They always had the cap space to sign Henrique. They would have used most of it to sign Henrique and Josefson to new deals since they had about $4M in space which was enough to sign both of them.

They have extra to sign someone else now. I wouldn't mind Grabovski. He could be the 2nd line center and they could move Henrique to wing which I think he would be better suited for.

Some fans are already clamoring to trade for Vanek, but I've seen enough players leave for their hometown in the past 2 years so I don't want to deal with it next year when Vanek would eventually sign with Minnesota or something.

Ah okay, I thought I read Henrique was gonna be a tight squeeze somewhere. Guess I misread it.

Re: Ilya Kovalchuk is retiring

This kind of makes me sad. It's basically the last remnant of the Thrashers. I don't really count Heatley because of the wreck and death of Snyder and how it all played out. It's an interesting what might of been if you think about it. The Thrashers made the playoffs with a line of Savard, Heatley and Kovy. Now about 10 people will remember the Thrashers. What a terribly ran organization.

Savard and Heatley were gone when they reached the playoffs, Savard left for Boston the offseason before Atlanta made the playoffs and Heatley had been traded for Hossa after the lockout.

Kovalchuk and Hossa were their main guys the one and only season they made the playoffs.
