That would've been done by the 3rd day after Black Monday, along with hiring a GM with Pats ties and giving Belichick personnel say. At least has decent WRs, so they wouldn't have to endure Belichick drafting WRs lol.

That’s an interesting move from Hafley’s standpoint, giving up a head coaching job to be a coordinator

He was last in the NFL as an assistant coach with SF, than a DC at Ohio State.

They are saying he's one ot them coaches that don't like the current state of college football. The fundraising, NIL, transfer portal, recruiting your own players. Some guys just want to "coach" and build. When you're a G5 or low end P5 coach, it's hard to build up a program in this landscape. The coaches who have success at these school feels quicker to jump at better opportunities nowadays

A lot less stress and probably better work/life balance as a NFL coordinator than a P5 head coach. And the pay probably isn't that different

Yeah, like I said in the College Football thread, you have to really love college football to be in the current landscape. Yeah, it was a HC job at a P5 school. There really isn't an offseason anymore for college coaches. Between recruiting, winter workouts/Spring game, portal, summer workouts, College Football is a year around gig. And nowadays, College HCs don't really know what their rosters will look like until after the Spring Portal.

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread

The rumor mill is going strong in Pittsburgh...

Quote:
Steelers Could Add Arthur Smith's Former QB
Quote:
Head coach Mike Tomlin said at the end of the season that Kenny Pickett would "resume" his QB1 status, but there would be competition. The team is hoping that the competition is Mason Rudolph, but it's not guaranteed he will re-sign with the team this offseason.

Steelers president Art Rooney II backed that statement, saying the "next step" is for the team to have quality quarterback play.

Well, what if they went and signed a veteran who has plenty of success with Smith as an offensive coordinator? While working with Smith in Tennessee, he helped take the Titans to the AFC Championship game, earned his first Pro Bowl, and won Comeback Player of the Year.
That veteran would be no other than Ryan Tannehill, who, at 35 years old, is set to hit the open market after being benched by the Titans this past season. His estimated market value is one year, $4.9 million, according to Spotrac, and chances are, he's just looking for the right fit.
