Big question marks. But I'd take them against anyone. McCaffery is a monster. Purdy I still don't believe is some elite QB. But he plays his role perfectly. They got the receivers. They got the defense.

It's gonna take serious injuries to derail this group. 49ers and Cowboys gonna be fun in a few weeks.

Niners won the NFC with Jimmy G. They don't need a great QB. And they are more stacked now than they were that year. A stud RB and a defense is enough.

I still can’t shake that missed throw from Jimmy G to Emmanuel Sanders in the Super Bowl with under 2 minutes left. To me, that was the difference between a QB who can get you there and a QB who can win it for you.

I’m not saying that Purdy (or G for that matter) couldn’t make that throw, or make it often enough, but without the pedigree, the chances are lower than they would be with some other QB’s. Part of that is probably bias too. Once you’re anointed a “good” QB, people focus less on the misses even though the greatest still make bad throws and even in crucial situations. But that just will always stick in my mind as a question of “What if that was a different QB throwing the ball?”

That’s partly why I was a bit shocked to see the 49ers give up on Lance totally. Not that he showed anything in his pro career to make us think he could, but the raw ability is presumably there hence the disparity in draft position between the two guys.

Re: Week 3 Discussion Thread

The schedule maker really ****ed us over this week. It’s either the Bears or Cardinals for the late game on Fox and then the Raiders tonight. At least watching the Steelers defense pulverize Jimmy G should be fun

Re: Week 3 Discussion Thread

That's should be a touchdown for Cooper. Refs blows whistle for zero reason. What are you looking at?

Another nice designed run out of shotgun using both backs with misdirection. That was nice.
