Re: WNBA/ G League Thread

Toronto awarded a WNBA team in 2026.

We'll see how they do, but the way the women's hockey team has taken off (good TV numbers and sold out arenas), there's definitely potential for the WNBA team.

Seems the disconnect between getting a WNBA team happened between some of the people part of the Raptors ownership group. One of them split from the group and has his own company now and got a team. The guy still part of the Raptors ownership group also didn't like Masai too much....shows how much that guy knows about basketball if he said no to Masai and a WNBA team but other people in that group had opposite feelings.

Doubt it'll ever happen, but wonder if this ownership group one day tries buying the Raptors if the Raptors ownership groups really just care about hockey.

Didn't catch any of the openers but saw some highlights. Rookie class definitely has my interest piqued as it had dropped of some the past few years..

Their defense did look solid, DiJonai can chase me around the court too if she needs some extra practice lol.

The wife and kids have been sick the last 2 weeks. I barely make it to the second game. I'm trying to catch up today . Just got my tickets for a few games this year.

Down BG, Mercury were scrappier and hung with Vegas for longer than I thought. Natasha Cloud is a dawg; like her as an addition to Phoenix.

Liked the little back and forth between Diana and Plum in the first half.

Just moved to Dallas; looking forward to taking my daughter to a game. They have Jacy coming off the bench; interested to see if and when she becomes a starter.

Re: WNBA/ G League Thread

Toronto officially announced as the 14th WNBA franchise.

Surprising that despite not being associated with them, Raptors President Masai Ujiri is in attendance as is Kyle Lowry (he's a FA I guess, but still weird since he's still an active player showing up for it, unless he's planning to retire and sign a 1 day deal with the Raptors?)

Raptors ownership group not associated with it but there have been some in that group who were against the WNBA team and against Masai staying with the Raptors. I know the money won't be there, but if the WNBA franchise offers Masai some job higher than being a president of the team while having ownership stake, maybe he jumps at it? One of the Raptors top execs already left to be one of the heads of the team.
