Re: Western Conference Playoffs - 2nd Round Discussion Thread

Minnesota had the best defense all year long, and essentially the same record as Denver and OKC all year long, so I’m not really shocked by their defense or their odds at winning this series. I know Denver is the defending champs (but that was last season) they lost a couple guys and Murray is a little banged up.. maybe I’m in the minority but I just don’t view Minnesota as an underdog like it’s sorta been painted. They have the star power and ridiculous depth.

Not that I don’t think Denver can beat them, but I was picturing this as the biggest matchup in the playoffs in general before it even started. This is the series that losing Bruce Brown is really going to show IMO. His off ball offense cutting off Joker wore down defenders, was another body to throw at Ant where KCP feels a bit too small and Gordon a bit too slow.

Mike Conley been an underrated lead guard his entire career. A smooth 14 and 10 on 83% TS from him in game 1. With a team high +20. Not bad. All the defenders they have around him (at 36) pretty much negate any sorta of decline he would otherwise be showing.

Then look at those last couple years of the Jazz squad where an undersized Conley was arguably the second best defender on the team around ages 32-34...

Man we really pooched that run. A little more defense to help Rudy and hide Donovan and we would've been at least WCF-bound. We zigged when we should've zagged

I feel like Naz is dangerous.

I fully expect the Nuggets to make a huge run here. Wolves defense has been on it. Aaron Gordon 3 pointers are fools gold right now. Don't believe it until he beats you.
