Vicente Padilla Test Positive for Swine Flu

Quote:
ARLINGTON -- The Texas Rangers received lab reports late Friday afternoon indicating that pitcher Vicente Padilla has tested positive for H1N1 Type A influenza.

Padilla, who was scratched from his scheduled start on Wednesday against Boston, is feeling much better and threw in the bullpen on Friday in Kansas City. He is scheduled to start on Tuesday against Detroit.

"The players who have experienced flu-like symptoms over the last several days have shown marked improvement, but we will continue to take all the necessary precautions as we have all week," commented Rangers general manager Jon Daniels. "We are in frequent communication with our medical personnel and Major League Baseball and will continue to monitor the situation closely."
Several players, including Padilla, were sent home from the park earlier this week after experiencing flu-like symptoms. The Rangers have also prescribed medication, including Tamiflu, to all team personnel who have experienced any symptoms. The club had a team meeting on Wednesday advising everyone to take the necessary precautions in terms of hygiene

Wow, this sucks. Hopefully Padilla will be able to make his next scheduled start. 7 other Rangers are sick, and I hope they don't have what Padilla has

This goes to prove that diseases don't discriminate and can affect EVERYONE. Hopefully he and the other Rangers are ok.

Saltalamacchia, Murph, Guardado and a few others have flu-like symptoms as well.

May they all have a fast recovery.

Re: Vicente Padilla Test Positive for Swine Flu

This could be a problem. Not surprised the catcher would have flu-like symptoms since both he and the pitcher will share the ball more than anyone.

An outfielder catches the ball, throws it back in. Later that ball is given to a fan. The domino affect that can be caused is alarming.
