Boys:

Picked up Rivals tonight, and I'm enjoying the offline game.

But I have a big question about the control of the game: Is it just me, or does this game suffer from the "NFL 2K3 syndrome" in which you have to pound the controller buttons to get them to perform your desired action in the game? I'm tapping the buttons as I did in NHL 2004 and ESPN NHL, and nothing happens. I really have to pound the buttons.

I'm using a Controller S that doesn't have this problem with any other game.

Any tips?

I'm having no problems. I'll tell you a game I did have this problem on though and that's ESPN NBA. But I'm like you I'm loving the offline game. The crowds are the best in any hockey game I've ever played. The only drawback is that this game was made for 5 minute periods. If you play 10 minutes the shot totals are absurd. Other than that this game is awesome.

Two guys learning the controls going two on three.

As for the controller try a different one if you can.
I switched from a controler S to "The Duke" the other day and although I had no issue in Rivals, I had the problem in Inside Drive. The new controller fixed it.

I notice that I at first FELT like I had to stomp on it (especially online) but once you see the subtle way that the players move you realize that every action responds pretty well.

I found that by going into BROADCAST or ICE view (lower angle) in Open Ice that I can see the animations much more clearly than the top down view, which makes you wonder if anything is happening. (this is why a lot of people have mentioned a lack of animations...they are actually there but hidden by the angle of the default camera).

It allowed me to see not only the sheer details of a lot of amazing animations but that each push of a button and toggle on the controller responded very nicely with a gentle push. Of course if you're pushing the shot button and he doesn't shoot....period...then something is wrong as I have no problem like that.

Also Broadcast view is soooo playable.
I am able to see goal rally well and cycle the puck and control it more easily.

Also try switching your Defensive players with the Rt stick as well as Pin point passing....easier on the thumbs.

Yeah, sorry for bolting, but that was no fun. A joke playing short-handed the entire game. I thought a computer-controlled player would be added to our side to balance the game. Guess not.

And those a-holes were whooping and celebrating because they were scoring a lot in a 3-on-2 game. Give me a break.

Thanks for the tip. I tried my original controller, and the sensitivity still was off. I may try to return this copy of the game to EB. Doubt that will fix it, but it's worth a shot.

That's what i thought too!

I thought they'd add a CPU player for us.
Also if they would have just waited one more minute we probably would have gotten someone else.
oh well....we'll team up some time again.

Yea....I figured you'd tried everything but piss on a spark plug by now to get it to work.
