Look under NCFA. We're in the offseason so now is a good time.

Re: Bowl Bound College Football

This game doesn't make sense at all. I can't even run the ball no matter what play I pick. It always has the same outcomes: tries to turn the corner, but is stopped, sees a hole but closes just as quickly, and fumble. Even when I had a Double TE run up the middle against a 3-3-5 I got stopped for -2. In 4 games I might have 5 yards rushing total.

The AI on the other hand can pick up 7-12 yards at will running out of trips up the middle against 6 rushes, 2 in the gap the play is going toward.

Passing the ball is just as random. Spread against 4-3 with all front 7 rushes and still somehow get stopped for a short gain of 2 over the middle. Every pass seems to be over thrown, off the fingertips, too short, or intercepted.

Meanwhile the AI can throw for a 40 yard gain over the middle against 3-3-5 zone. Somehow one player catches the ball against 3 in the area and beats them all?

Is there some magical stat that you're supposed to go for that's inherently better than all the others?

UPDATE:

I'm now convinced that this game is complete crap. 80% of my plays are for <3 yards, the other 10% are turnovers. Meanwhile 70% of their plays are for 5-12 yards against matchups that should never yield that. Another 10% of their plays are 30+ yards. I now believe that even if my team was maxed out in every rating, they would have no shot even against a crap team like Florida Atlantic.

First, I am going to totally disagree with you. In my dynasty (take a look at the stats on my tarheel page in the dynasty section), I can run the ball most of the time. So what I am thinking is that you are taking a "hit" by running the type of plays that give you a Negative Bonus. If you take a look at your playbook, there is formations that depending on your OC/DC that works best/worst for your team.

Also, this is not EA's NCAA, where you are going to get 100 yds each and every game. Sometimes I get the tough yards and am happy to finish with 80 yds and the win. Playbooks are the key, as you just can't line up and run the ball, unless you got the personnel, and knowing what plays work best for you.

Sorry you can't run the ball....but you got to go deep in your playbook and find what works and don't work for personnel. I have set up at least 6 play books that I use, after I scout the other team and find one that works best for there defense. Last year, I had the WR's to open up the running lanes to spread the field. This year...I have had to rely on my OL, and some games I just can't run. Also, if you have a bad OC/DC your progression will suffer game per game.

Re: Bowl Bound College Football

I've tried 3 different leagues each with different play styles.

One was a vertical passing team since I had a big arm QB, 2 good WRs, and 1 good TE. Still couldn't complete over 45%. When they were complete it was always for very little yardage even on medium and deep plays. Lining up spread vs. 4-4-3 should give me a massive advantage on a deep pass, but no my slot receiver always gets stopped for hardly any gain even when the LBs are blitzing.

Then I tried a smash mouth offense since my team had 2 good guards, a good blocking TE, and a good RB. Even when I ran it using Double TE against 3-3-5 zone I would get stopped for no gain or negative yards.

Finally I tried an option offense since I had a 75 speed QB and 2 average RB. This worked better than the others, but still ended up with more negative plays than positive against favorite matchups.

On defense, forget about it. They get 30+ yard passes at will even if they're running singleback and I'm running Dime. When they ran it the result would be a "short gain" (meaning 4-6 yards to the game). When I did get them to 3rd down, they always pick up 1-2 yards more than they need. In a dozen games or so they punted maybe 15 times, which is absolutely ridiculous.

Don't know what to tell you then. For me at least this game plays out just fine...except for maybe the "Top 25", when you get some strange rankings.

Now when you say good players...are they blue or green, with blue being the best. Again, don't know what the problem is....my first season...I struggled, but now putting my playbook together with the personnel I want...things are much much better.

I have a feeling that at some point I will crack and buy this. I love football games but just like all other sports games I don't have time to sit down and play out the actual games. Plus it is far too easy to win a NC in NCAA Football.

I always schedule the worst RPI team possible for the first game. The three teams I played as were Idaho, Michigan, and Oklahoma. I understand losing with Idaho since they suck something aweful, but not with Michigan and Oklahoma. Am I not supposed to actually call the plays and instead just sim every week? I don't know.

To tell the truth, you do get better results when you sim, but you have got to remember to game plan, and set up a playbook. Look at what plays are working for your team, and remove the ones that you are losing yards with. For me, I do a mix of play/sim depending on how much time I have. Also, just because you have took Michigan, and Oklahoma....don't mean they are good. The game sets up fictional teams...not real powerhouses as in real life. In my dynasty, Virginia is ranked in the top 10, as well as some lesser knows in the top 20.

If I was you...try to sim a few games to get the feel of how your playbook is working. Remember....this game was made as a sim...and not a play game, and you will get better results.

If you have any questions...just ask.
