Re: Draft Day Sports: College Basketball 22 Review - Embrace the Madness

Thanks for the Review.

I'm an old sports sim gamer having played Strat-O-Matic since the mid 80s. I've played several other sports sims in both cards & dice and PC formats over the years.

That said, I've never played any DDS title but I've become very interested in this title over the last week.

My biggest concern is, as mentioned in the article, the learning curve. If anyone has any advice for a noob (or potential noob, in my case), I would appreciate it!

How is the simulation engine on this? I've always held off on Wolverine studios games in the past (specifically college football) because I have seen several criticisms laid out on the game's simulation engine.

Personally, I didn't find the learning curve that bad. If you've played a lot of CH2k8 the recruiting is pretty similar. Don't get me wrong there's definitely some learning as you go but I kinda find mastering those things as part of the fun. If you're still on the fence it'll probably go on sale eventually, if you want to wait.

College basketball is my main source of enjoyment so...that may be why I felt like a lot of the stuff was just ingrained into me.

I've only bought their games via Steam. Does buying from their website give you a DRM-free version, a Steam key, or both?

It's been a few years now but I have played a fair amount of CH2k8. Thanks for the insight. It's helpful to hear someone say that the learning curve was not too steep.

FYI, all Wolverine Sports games have a free demo. I believe they all allow you to play 1 full season.

Each demo is good for 7 days. Can play all you want with no restrictions for the trial period. Mods also work during this time.

Re: Draft Day Sports: College Basketball 22 Review - Embrace the Madness

Thanks for the correction. Maybe in the past they were 1 season demos?

Anyways, I started my 7 day trial last night. Picked Radford as that is the Mrs, canes21's alma mater.

I've only made it past game 1, but the amount of depth in the game now compared to the last time I played one of their games is significant. I've got 2 kids committed already, maybe by the help of giving them extra incentives.

I'll play the trial out, at this rate I'll probably pick it up once it is over. It may even get me to get their other games if they are just as good.
