Re: EA Sports: MVP Baseball to Return?

After seeing how EA handled their 'Tiger Woods Online' franchise, I'm not sure EA would do much better than 2K Sports at running a baseball series.

MVP Baseball was a fun game but that was so long ago. I think their company focus has changed to just making as much money as possible instead of putting out a quality product.

I'm not holding my breath that a EA baseball game will be anything close to MVP 05 .... especially after going through the headaches of the TWO series.

Such a promising computer game ruined by EA's greed.

Like you, I hope we get those choices like we had almost a decade ago.
Not to derail the conversation, but could you give some details on this expansion mode?
It sounds pretty cool.

Whether you love or hate EA, the important thing to note is that games are made by development teams, not companies. Most of the guys that worked on MVP are probably long gone, so it wouldn't likely be the same game, no matter what. I know a few of them are even with SCEA now, although I have no idea where, who, or in what fashion.

High Heat 2k2/3 was where it was at. Just imagine that sim engine with some of todays graphics... I'd be a baseball game fan again.

Re: EA Sports: MVP Baseball to Return?

With 2k dropping out EA HAS TO come back! Now I'd have to be very impressed to instantly make the switch from The Show which has been good to me these past few years but MVP 05 was probably my favorite sports game of all time, just over NFL 2k5.

Doesn't sound like it...

http://espn.go.com/blog/playbook/tec...-talks-ufc-mlb

"The 2K Sports third-party exclusive with MLB recently expired. Are there current negotiations taking place between EA Sports and Major League Baseball?

No, we’re not. Do I like baseball? Absolutely, I’m a huge baseball fan. But right now, we’re focusing on the franchises we’ve got. We’re focused on doing the UFC, and making it big and global. Is there an opportunity for us to do something with baseball one day? I hope so. But are we doing anything with baseball today? It’s just not something we’re working on right now."
