Re: OS Book Club Pt II

My dad recommended I should read short stories by a British author called Jeffery Archer. So I picked one of his short-story books, and so far it's really interesting. He wrote these stories while spending 2 years in prison. Very good read.

Re: OS Book Club Pt II

So since getting my Kindle for Christmas, i've read three books.

The Fall (Book Two of the Strain trilogy, by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan): Great summer read (yeah, I know, it's the winter). Fast paced and exciting. I've really enjoyed both books so far. They've both read more like summer blockbusters, but what can I say, i'm a sucker for books like this. Can't wait for part three this Fall.

Grim Reaper: End of Days (Steve Alten): Another fast paced books. It's about a woman who unleashes and superpowered version of the Bubonic Plague upon Manhattan right before the supposed end of days (Dec. 21, 2012). It's both about the reaction and attempted containment of the plague, and one man's journey to find his family in Manhattan before it's too late. It's also a play upon Dante's Inferno, dealing with the circles of Hell being unleashed in Manhattan. I enjoyed it, but it's fairly forgettable.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Stieg Larrson): Excellent book. I couldn't put it down once it got going. Once they really start to unravel the murder case, the pages flew right by. Lisbeth is certainly one of the more interesting characters introduced in a book that i've read in quite some time. I'm excited to see what David Fincher can do with the movie, as so far, the cast is perfect to me. I've already downloaded The Girl Who Played With Fire as my next read, as I can't get enough of the characters introduced here.

Re: OS Book Club Pt II

Anybody read the Millennium Trilogy by Steig Larsson?

Just finished it up and I loved every second of it. If you don't know what it is it's about a girl who has had her civil rights violated several times by the Swedish government. That's about as vague as you can get when describing the series, plus some of the other topics touched upon aren't allowed to be discussed here on OS, but I'll leave it at that.

Recommended for any fan of crime/mystery novels.

OK, fatty, time to stop eating and finish up A Song of Ice and Fire...

Can't wait for the HBO series, but hot damn, he needs to finish up the books before his heart gives out.
