Re: The 2K24 Post up/Triple Threat/Face up game Thread

Post control and close shot are low on all my toons, but years past you could still drop step and get a good look.

I have 50 strength as a guard and I can literally shove my man under the basket, pump fake, get him in the air, and my shot air balls.

So what? Shot close is standing layup now? Shot close used to be hooks, jumpers, and push shots at the 6-8 foot mark. I did like how floaters are considered layups now...

But my 6'10 88 driving layup isn't good enough for a back down, drop step, standing layup?

I don't like this change at all.

I agree it's definitely a weird change. But I think I've figured it out. You just can't mash in the paint with drop step with anyone now. Not every player should be able to do it. That's why around the rim you got to find another way to finish. I've been finishing using the stick to get different layups. Or get wide open. I kind of welcome the change now. Now you can't just kind of cheese this weak spot.

You have to select a better finish.

These are the ones you're hitting with your guards. But can't finish with your bigs right?

No... I'm talking mash him under the hoop and up fake with square, trying to get the pump foul or beating his reaction. I get neither mostly, so I stopped.

I don't think it's "cheese" to have a clear height, weight mismatch and trying to exploit it tho.

This year standing contested layups are 100% miss. At the same time they have 100% make threes.

Problem?

I've missed a bunch of these with Shawn Kemp. I know what you're talking about. This is when you don't have the Masher Badge. I agree with what you're saying in the 100% make vs a 3 pointer. But all you need to do if you have a mismatch is be a little patient. I know it's so easy for me to sit here and blame you. I was having the same problem about a month and half ago.

The reason I kind is because not just every player can go down there and get buckets and become a mismatch. Let me see if I have some clips. Because I was definitely missing shots like you explained with clear mismatches.

Just a couple of clips from my current franchise. Nothing too fancy, but sometimes the simple stuff is the best!

1) Got a low block mismatch between the strong Kenny Lofton Jr and Brandon Miller. First used the size advantage to bump Miller off his stance, then got him in the air with the shot fake, leaving a simple finish off glass.

2) Got my rookie SG into a foul line post-up on a good defender in Anthony Black, before hitting him with a sweet turnaround. He has that Derek Fisher-y release which is hard to block, and being a southpaw makes it look even nicer.

I loved the first one. I haven't been good at reading when a defender jumps.
