I don't know if this will turn out to be recency bias, but the commentary is fantastic.

I could sit here and tell you why in a deep philosophical way, or you will find out when you play it. So we'll just go with the latter.

As some mentioned the graphics aren't much different. The game play is pretty solid and I noticed batting just feels better, idk what it is but it seems better. I played one game as the Rangers against the Yankees.
So it started off pretty slow until the 6th inning the Yanks bats just woke up and I lost 9-2. It felt natural though, it was a loss that felt good and I felt the higher rated players played as they should since they're all star caliber guys.
The game isn't a huge leap but then again 21 wasn't a mess. I think enough was polished to make the game worth it at least for me.

On a side note, I just started the 2nd regular season game and saw the score tracker in the bottom now has news.
It has brief news form other games and not just the scores and stats. Pretty neat.

It is unreal what a difference the commentary makes. Singy’s story about the suit shop in Manhattan went on for an entire inning. Presentation packages are outstanding as well. SDS crushed presentation this year. At the very least rivals NBA 2K if not surpassing it.

I didn't play 21 long enough to see if they ever patched the issues with ballplayer equipment settings messing up when you changed gear at all, but it seems like if you go into add equipment on ballplayer for diamond dynasty, it reverts everything to the default of one batting glove, one sleeve, one wrist guard if you put it on, glasses always, and things like that.

They aren't perfect, but I would say the rosters are the best they've ever been. I'm going to do work cleaning them up, but if you aren't super picky you could easily start a franchise with what they have.
