When you have the monopoly, and the league seems very content to keep it that way, there's no incentive to do anything else other than spend as little as possible to keep churning them out and making massive profits.

Taking this purely at face value, I gotta imagine whatever herculean effort EA Sports has been up to for EASCFB has flooded the face scan content pipeline at Madden's expense.
