Kellers Hat Trick leads COYOTES over SHARKS 6-4...

RECAP 3/22/20

San Jose, CA- Clayton Keller had his First Career Hat Trick to help the Red Hot Arizona Coyotes(41-25-10) beat the San Jose Sharks(42-23-9) inside the SAP Center on Sunday Night.

"Amazing to get that Hat Trick, especially against the Stanley Cup Champions too, I mean they just won the Cup and they're the best Team. They set the standard for the year." Keller stated.

The Coyotes jumped all over the defending Champions with a 5-0 lead in just the First Period.

"They really got up on us before we could even blink it seemed like." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

In the first 15 Minutes, Arizona(41-25-10) jumped out to a 4-0 lead when Clayton Keller(17,18), Michael Grabner(9), and Niklas Hjalmarrson(1) scored.

Sharks Goalie Martin Jones(26-20-7) gave up 4 Goals on just 7 Shots and was pulled with 5 Minutes left in just the First Period.

Backup Goalie Joey Backstrom allowed 2 Goals on 18 Shots as he finished with 16 Saves to give the Sharks some confidence.

Grabner(10) scored to make it 5-0 Arizona at the end of the First.

"The way we've been playing this Season is great for this Team. We feel we can contend and beat anybody. It's been an exciting year for us but we're not quite done yet. San Jose is still the Team to beat until somebody else holds up the Stanley Cup." Coyotes Head Coach Rick Tocchet stated.

The Sharks(42-23-9) got on the board in the Second Period when Alternate Captain Logan Couture scored. His 33rd Goal of the year.

In the Third Period, San Jose mounted a comeback when Justin Callahan(27), Curtis Sawyer(22), and Evander Kane(34) scored that made it 5-4 before Clayton Keller scored his 3rd Goal for his first ever Hat Trick.

Arizona Goaltender Antti Raanta made 30 saves for the Coyotes.

San Jose(42-23-9) will begin a 3 Game Road Trip on the West Coast with their first stop in Edmonton, Canada against the Oilers(39-30-5) and former Head Coach Todd McLellan.

Then it's a trip to The Fortress to face the Vegas Golden Knights(30-34-11) who are on the verge of missing the Playoffs for the Second year in a row and sit 14 Points out of a Wildcard spot.

Then on Friday March 27 the Sharks head to Southern California to face the Division leading Anaheim Ducks(48-23-4) who just clinched the Westerns First Playoff spot.

RECAP 3/24/20

Edmonton, AB- The Edmonton Oilers(40-30-5) aren't ready to call it quits on their 2019-2020 Campaign just yet.

"This was a huge win for us and one we needed to get back into the Playoff Race. We know it's in our control and that's the way we want it. San Jose is a good Team and for us to make a statement like that over them was phenomenal." Oilers Head Coach Todd McLellan stated.

With 7 Games left in the NHL Season, Edmonton(40-30-5) moves into a 3 Way Tie for the last Wildcard Spot in the Western Conference.

The Oilers, Colorado, and Winnipeg currently have 85 Points while Edmonton holds the Wildcard with their Win tonight over the San Jose Sharks(42-24-9).

It took just 20 Seconds into the First Period for the Oilers to get on the board. Oscar Klefbom(12) scored for the 1-0 lead.

From that moment on the flood gates opened as Edmonton raced out to a 4-0 lead.

"This game got away from us real fast. Too many Goals and penalties. We need to take a look at ourselves after this one. Embarrassing." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

Leon Draisaitl(20) scored on the First Power Play for the 2-0 Oilers lead. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins(13), and Ty Rattie(20) scored on another Power Play to close out the First Period with a 4-0 Oilers lead.

San Jose(42-24-9) got on the board off Evander Kane's 35th Goal of the year. But Edmonton would rebound with a Zack Kassian(7) and Andrej Sekera(9) on the Power Play for a 6-2 lead heading into the Final Period. Erik Karlsson(10) scored.

Sharks Center Tomas Hertl(18) made it 6-3 with 12:20 left in the Third Period. But then Leon Draisaitl(20) scored his Second Goal of the Game for the 7-3 Final. Captain Connor McDavid would finish with 3 Assists.

SHARKS bounce back with 7-1 crushing over GOLDEN KNIGHTS..

RECAP 3/25/20

Las Vegas, NV- Sharks Netminder Joey Backstrom(17-7-2) had 26 Saves to help the San Jose Sharks(43-24-9) bounce back from back to back losses with a 7-1 drubbing over the Vegas Golden Knights(30-35-11) on Wednesday Night inside the T-Mobile Arena in Sin City.

"That was just a bad performance by us. We were absolute garbage tonight and Screw San Jose. They're a Tool. Peter is a Clown. Screw that Franchise." Golden Knights Head Coach Gerard Gallant stated.

Vegas(30-35-11) is on the verge of missing the Playoffs for the Second year in a row despite having a healthy Roster this year. Mark Stone broke his nose tonight in a fight and will return April 6.

The only other Injury in the Knights Locker Room is William Carrier who is out with a Fractured Ankle and due back April 3.

The Golden Knights(30-35-11) sit in 12th Place in the Western Conference and are about to miss out on Lord Stanley.

"Yeah we know where we are in the Standings and we're not happy." Gallant added.

"You know when you let your feelings cloud your judgment you say things and do things you regret. Gerard (Gallant) is passionate but lately he's more of a prick." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer fired back.

Curtis Sawyer(23) and Logan Couture(34) got the Sharks on the board for a 2-0 lead inside T-Mobile Arena.

In the Second Period it was all San Jose(43-24-9) as Tomas Hertl(19), Ryan Carpenter(9), and Barclay Goodrow(10) made it 5-0 to stun the Vegas Fans.

To close out the 2nd Period, Reilly Smith scored to make it 5-1.

But too little too late as James Carr(13) and Jay Beagle(12) scored in the Third Period to make it 7-1 as Vegas Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury(21-25-7) had 29 Saves but allowed all 7 Goals.

With 5 Minutes left in the Game, Gallant pulled Flower for Backup Rock Jacobs who stopped 2 Shots as Vegas(30-35-11) fell flat on their face.

San Jose(43-24-9) will head to Southern California and play the Pacific Division leading Anaheim Ducks(48-24-4) on Friday night.

RECAP 3/27/20

Anaheim, CA- Backup Goalie Joey Backstrom had 55 Saves, JJ Hart(8) scored in Overtime as the San Jose Sharks(44-24-9) hold off the Anaheim Ducks(48-24-5) inside the Honda Center on Friday Night.

"We let this one get away from us at the end. That's on us. We need to be better at closing out Games. Especially if we force Overtime." Ducks Head Coach Randy Carlyle stated.

Anaheim(48-24-5) clinched a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs but haven't clinched the Pacific Division yet. Goalie John Gibson had 30 saves but the Ducks will have to wait a bit longer to win the Pacific.

San Jose(44-24-9) trail Anaheim by 4 Points. Justin Callahan(28) scored in the first 1:18 for a 1-0 lead.

But the Ducks refused to be intimidated. Patrick Eaves(12) tied it up just a few moments later.

"This was a tough game for us tonight. Anaheim showed us why they are where they are in the Standings. Definitely a grind tonight." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

It was 1-1 until midway through the Second Period when Sharks Captain Joe Pavelski scored his 36th Goal of the year.

But then Anaheim(48-24-5) tied it up at 2-2 in the Third Period off a Power Play Goal by Alternate Captain Corey Perry(17).

The Ducks would finish 1/3 on the Power Play.

"Those missed chances doomed us." Carlyle added. Sharks Defensemen Tim Heed(5) broke the tie late in the Third.

But with 8 Seconds left and Gibson pulled, Patrick Eaves(13) scored to tie it at 3-3 sending the Honda Center into a frenzy.

But the Sharks prevailed in OT when Barclay Goodrow set JJ Hart(8) up with the Game Winner.

San Jose(44-24-9) will head back to the Shark Tank on Sunday Night and host the Colorado Avalanche(40-29-8). The Av's are just 1 point out of the 8th Seed and final Wildcard Spot in the Western Conference.
