Re: Reviving the Flyers(NHL17)

FINLAND RIDES 5-GOAL 1ST PERIOD TO VICTORY

Leo Komarov watches his shot sail past a diving John Gibson to put the Finns up 5-2 in the 1st Period.

NHL.com -- North America came into this match up with all sorts of hype surrounding their young but talented team and were favored over Team Finland, but no one told Team Finland. Whether it was nerves or the kids were overly excited, they fell behind and fell behind QUICKLY after going up 2-1 on Nathan MacKinnon's SHG. In a matter of two minutes Team North America went from leading 2-1 to trailing 4-2. Goaltender John Gibson settled down after the 1st period, but despite Team North America's relentless pressure, Team Finland and Tukka Rask refused to bend.

*Note: That was a fun game! I think I was too over confident(or feeling the pressure of not losing to the Czechs) playing as Canada, but with Finland I was relaxed and these sliders(small sample size) do seem to give a variety of different games

Sweden Mounts HUGE Comeback, 7-5 Victory over Russia

Henrik Sedin gets his stick on the puck to score the go-ahead goal in last night's 7-5 Win over Russia
NHL.com --- Team Russia had Team Sweden right where they wanted them after taking a 4-2 lead into the third period, but Team Sweden was not going to go quietly. Gabriel Landeskog and Nicklas Hjalmarsson would score two goals by the midway point of the third period before Alex Ovechkin scored to give Russia the 5-4 Lead, but some poo discipline did the Russians in. After Forsberg tied the game again, Alex Emelin(Interference) and Dmitri Kulikov(Delay of Game) took back to back penalties in a matter of seconds and Team Sweden made the Russians pay with Henrik Sedin and Victor Hedman sealing the victory for the Swedes.

Russia Doubles Up Team North America

John Gibson robs Alexander Ovechkin's One-Timer early in the 1st period

NHL.com ---- Team Russia had very little time to get over their humiliating loss at the hands of Team Sweden and it seems they got over it just fine after V.Tarasenko fired a wicked wrister past John Gibson just 1:32 into the game. The Russians dominated the young North American team and if it wasn't for two powerplay goals and some superb goaltending by Anaheim's John Gibson this game could have been a blowout. Team North America now faces elimination after falling to 0-2-0.

Yeah I think I'm using modified versions of Al and Your sliders, just minor additions. Hated having the Ovechkins/Kanes etc. mishandling the pucks over simple moves and I think I bumped Goalie Save Reaction to 55 for the Russian game.

Thank you OBG for the kind words. I love getting screenshots and sometimes I get video of the post game recap(probably for the Flyers games).

Holding out for a patch to fix the minor issues...

SBISA'S LAST MINUTE GOAL GIVES TEAM EUROPE A WIN

Petr Mrazak watches as Luca Sbisa's wrister gets by him to give Team Europe a 4-3 lead late in the third period

NHL.com -- Luca Sbisa went from the scapegoat to the hero in a matter of minutes as he scored with 45 seconds remaining in the game to give Team Europe(1-1-0) their first victory and more than likely punching Team Czech Republic's(0-2-0) ticket home. With Team Europe leading 3-2, Michael Frolk would turn Sbisa inside out before roofing a backhander past Halak to tie the game. Sbisa would have the last laugh though when he walked into the high slot and ripped a wrister past Mrazek, who was out of position after pushing Leon Draisaitl out of his way.

STEPAN'S SHOOTOUT WINNER LEADS USA TO VICTORY

Stepan Celebrates his Shootout winner to lead Team USA to a 4-3 Win over Team Canada

NHL.com - In the most anticipated matchup of the World Cup Round Robins, fans were not disappointed as Team Canada and Team USA needed shootouts to settle things. The two teams would throw everything they could at the opposing goalie and each other and still couldn't settle things. Overtime was a back and forth tussle with Team USA getting a powerplay with 30 seconds left, but Team Canada held on. The game had everything a hockey fan could ask for. Carey Price and Jonathan Quick put on a show and Team USA's defense held the high octane Canadian Offense in check for most of the night. Things got chippy quite a few times and David Backes and Brent Burns dropped the gloves after Backes collided with Price. Max Pacioretty lead the way with two goals. USA now is sitting atop the group with a 2-0-0 record while Canada needs to beat Team Europe.

Finland Nets Six Unanswered Goals, Defeats Rival Sweden Team

T.Rask makes a big save on D.Sedin's late bid to tie the game in last night's 6-5 Finland Win

NHL.com -- Team Finland has shown it can score goals with the best of the World and they can do it fast. Not only did Team Finland come back from a 2-0 deficit in the 1st period, they successfully chased Henrik Lundqvist after the 6th goal on 20 shots. Team Sweden stuck first when Filip Forsberg scored a powerplay goal early in Sweden's 5-on-3 Powerplay then Forsberg would add his 2nd of the night moments after the powerplays ended. A.Barkov would answer for Finland as P.Laine threaded a pass to Barkov after Barkov shoved Zetterberg off his back. Korpikoski would find a rebound the The King uncharacteristically left in front of him to tie the game. The onslaught was on as Leo Komarov would find the back oft he net as would Patrick Laine, T.Teravainen and the Fins would add one more to takea 6-2 lead.(I didn't get the 6th goal). The Swedes would claw back to within one with goals from Eriksson, Steen and Henrik Sedin, but Rask shut the door after that. Sweden(1-1-0) faces North America(0-2-0) while the Fins(2-0-0) take on the Russians(1-1-0) in the finale
