Summary:
Yet another shutout by John Vanbiesbrouk. He's on pace to set all sorts of NHL goaltending records. Tough game up until the third period where Florida finally took control. My players were getting harassed all night by Lemieux and Scott Stevens. In fact, Stevens injured my top center Barnes and had to leave for the rest of the game.

Summary:
Vanbiesbrouck proves to be human after all letting in 2 good goals on 50+ shots. The game had the potential to end in regulation but Stu Barnes punched a rebound through Hasek's pads with less than 12 seconds to go in the game. Mogilny buried a Lafontaine rebound in overtime to end it. The offensive capability of the Panthers remains a concern.

Summary:
10 games into the season now and Vanbiesbrouck has already racked up 4 shutouts. Kasparitis tried to tangle up with Murphy several times but Murphy didn't want any part of it. However Laus did go fisticuffs with Thomas of the Islanders.

Re: NHL 96 - Florida Panthers

End of Month Progress Report - October 1995

Standings

League Leaders

Player Stats

End of Month Summary:
It's been an extremely hot start for the Panthers. Despite not having many offensive weapons they are spreading puck possession around achieving an all around team effort in goal scoring. One of the biggest surprises so far is Gord Murphy who is not only leading the team in penalty minutes but is leading in assists as well. It's a true showing of toughness and teamwork. Another big surprise so far is goaltender John Vanbiesbrouck who is on a tear to start the season. With a league leading 0.90 GAA and 4 shutouts he's a clear early winner for the Vezina Trophy.

If the Panthers have any hope of continuing this early success they need continued solid efforts from Vanbiesbrouck and will need more production from top forwards Mellanby and Bellanger.

Summary:
Worst loss of the season for the Panthers. Vanbiesbrouck looked lost as the top scoring line of the Oilers dominated all game long almost out shooting Florida 2 to 1. This raises questions again about whether or not the mediocre offense of the Panthers can keep up with top scoring teams. Due to the severity of the loss it might be wise to give Vanbiesbrouck a day off to collect his thoughts. Other highlights of the game include a brawl between Jason Arnott and Tom Fitzgerald. It's assumed this was spurred by frustration on the part of the Panthers after being down 4-0 early in the game.
