Scr** him, I want Hossa. Don't need that selfish guy on the Oilers. I'll go get excited for Blair Betts.

I saw the Rangers offer. It was something like Dunbinsky, Del Zotto, Callahan and "sweetning". The Oilers is better.

I don't know if Hossa will choke in the playoffs either. He played good in the playoffs in Pittsburgh and was okay in the first 3 rounds.

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that the Canucks have re-signed forwards Daniel and Henrik Sedin to identical five-year deals. In keeping with club policy, terms were not disclosed.

“Daniel and Henrik Sedin are this club’s offensive leaders and players we want to build around,” said Mike Gillis. “Their level of performance in every area of the game is exceptional; both Daniel and Henrik are committed to winning and we want them to succeed as Vancouver Canucks.”

Daniel averaged a point-per-game in the regular season and playoffs, sharing the team scoring lead with Henrik for the 2008-09 season. He recorded 31 goals, a career high 51 assists (31-51-82) and 36 penalty minutes in 82 games played. In 10 postseason contests he scored four goals, six assists (4-6-10) and had eight penalty minutes. Over the past five seasons he has missed only one of 410 NHL games. Daniel won gold at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy with Team Sweden recording three points (1-2-3) in eight games played.

Henrik shared the team lead in scoring and matched Daniel with a point-per-game average in 2008-09. He recorded a new career goal-high scoring 22 times, adding 60 assists (22-60-82) and 48 penalty minutes in 82 games played, his fourth consecutive 82-game season. He also recorded 10 points in 10 playoff games (4-6-10) with two penalty minutes. The NHL named Henrik second star for the month of March after he recorded 19 points (7-12-19) in 14 games. Henrik ranks 8th all-time in club scoring with 460 points (109-351-460) in 646 career games and 9th all-time in playoff scoring with 30 points (14-16-30) in 53 postseason games. In 2008 he was selected to the NHL All-Star Game in Atlanta, where he recorded two assists. Henrik won gold with Team Sweden at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy scoring three goals and an assist in eight games.

Daniel and Henrik Sedin, 28 years-old, were drafted by Vancouver second and third overall, respectively, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed right wing Marian Hossa (MAIR-ee-uhn, HOH-sa) to a 12-year contract and center Tomas Kopecky (TAW-mahsh, koh-PEHTS-kee) a two-year contract.

“To add Marian, an elite and world-class player, and Tomas, a Stanley Cup Champion, to our exciting young core reinforces our commitment to try to win the Stanley Cup,” Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon said.

A four-time NHL All-Star, Hossa has played in 11 seasons in the NHL with Ottawa (1997-2004), Atlanta (2005-08), Pittsburgh (2008) and Detroit (2008-09), recording 719 points (339G, 380A) in 775 regular season contests. He has appeared in 98 Stanley Cup Playoff games (31G, 45A), including reaching the Stanley Cup Final in each of the last two seasons.

Last season, Hossa, 30, led the Red Wings in goals (40) and finished third in points (71) during the regular season before chipping in 15 points (6G, 9A) while appearing in all 23 Stanley Cup Playoff games. Following the regular season, he was named to the 2008-09 NHL Second All-Star Team. The Trencin, Slovakia native was originally drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the first round (12th overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.

Kopecky, 27, also spent the 2008-09 season in Detroit, his fourth with the club. He finished second on the team with 109 hits while posting career highs with six goals, 13 assists and 19 points in 79 regular season games. The Ilava, Slovakia native also dished out one assist in eight Stanley Cup games with Detroit last season. He has appeared in 183 regular season games with the Red Wings over the last four seasons notching 32 points (12G, 20A) and 113 penalty minutes. Kopecky was originally drafted by Detroit with their second choice (38th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

Re: Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL 10)

The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed free agent defenseman Mattias Ohlund to a multi-year contract today, Executive Vice President and General Manager Brian Lawton announced. Ohlund will be looked upon to solidify and lead the Lightning’s young, developing defensive corps.

“We are thrilled Mattias elected to sign with the Tampa Bay Lightning today,” said Lawton upon making the announcement. “With so many options in front of him, having him elect to play in Tampa demonstrates the faith he has in our team’s strategy and vision for success, which should be exciting for our fans. This signing accomplished two primary goals for us. First, we have added the top-two defenseman we coveted to lead our blue line and second, we have found a leader and a mentor for Victor Hedman as he prepares to play in the NHL this fall.”

Ohlund, 6-foot-2, 227 pounds, has skated in 770 career NHL games, all with Vancouver. He has amassed 93 career goals and 325 points with 36 power play goals and 19 game-winning goals. Ohlund is the Canucks’ all-time leader in goals by a defenseman and led the team in ice time during the 2006-07 (24:47) and 2007-08 (23:46) seasons. He was named to the NHL All-Star game in 1998-99 and the NHL All-Rookie Team in 1997-98. Ohlund was also recognized by his team, earning the Canucks’ Most Outstanding Defenseman award in 2005-06 and 1999-00.

A native of Pitea, Sweden, Ohlund has played in 52 career playoff games, recording nine goals and 28 points. He is tied for 11th overall on the Vancouver all-time playoff points list.

Ohlund, 32, played in all 82 games for the Vancouver Canucks last season, recording six goals and 25 points. He ranked third on the team in points among defensemen and second in plus/minus with a plus-14 rating. Ohlund also led the team in hits with 152, was third overall in average ice time with 21:34 per game and was fourth in hits with 109. He also played in 10 Stanley Cup Playoff games, recording a goal and three points.

A Swedish national, Ohlund has represented his country in three separate Olympic Games. He won the Gold Medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics and also participated in 2002 and 1998. Ohlund also played in the 2001 (Bronze), 1998 (Gold) and 1997 (Silver) World Championships, the 2004 World Cup, as well as the 1996 (Silver), 1995 (Bronze) and 1994 (Silver) World Junior Championships.

Ohlund was drafted by Vancouver in the first round, 13th overall, in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.

This is even better then him going to Edmonton. Edmonton wasnt gonna be good anyway and now he goes to a top rival of the wings that already has a good team. sure they may challange the wings for the top spot, but he will choke come playoff time thus good for wings... And they're so nice to take one of our scrubs off our team in Kopecky. Thanks 'Hawks....

Re: Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL 10)

He doesn't choke in the playoffs if you think about it. Last year he performed excellently in the for the Penguins through all of the rounds. He only finished behind Sid in scoring. In Detroit, yes he did worse and didn't really contribute in the Cup Finals, but he was still a threat.
