The Pittsburgh Penquins are melting down.

After holding a 3-1 series lead, the Pens find themselves headed back to Anaheim for an epic Game 7 against the defending Stanley Cup Champion Ducks.

The scoring in game 6 would start with Anaheim getting on the board first on a Brad May goal, his 1st of the post season at the 12:17 mark of the 1st frame. The Pens would tie the contest just 2:01 later when Pavel Bure would score one of the greatest goals of the season for the Pens when he would tally on a wrap around immediately after being denied on a breakaway by Ilya Bryzgalov. The score would stay tied 1-1 heading into the 2nd frame.

The Pens would control the 2nd period, scoring twice on a Sidney Crosby rebound and a goal by Chris Kunitz while the Ducks would remain in the hunt, getting Rob Niedermeyer's 2nd playoff marker, sending the Ducks into the 3rd trailing 3-2.

The Ducks would make their move early in the 3rd period getting goals at 2:57 and 5:13 from Travis Moen and Martin Rucinsky as the Ducks force what should be an epic Game 7 in Anaheim two days from now.

"Its all on the line for both teams. We're gonna be completely prepared to give them all we've got left in Anaheim", said Pens head coach Mario Lemieux.

Key Stats

Crosby Goal (12) Assist
Kunitz Goal (9)
Bure Goal (15)
Fleury 22/26

R. Niedermeyer Goal (2)

Pens Win Stanley Cup; Bure Dominates Game 7

Pittsburgh 4, Anaheim 3
123OTTFinal

ANA (3)0213

Anaheim (AP)--

It took seven games, but the Pittsburgh Penguins have won the Stanley Cup over the defending champion Anaheim Ducks.

The Ducks would suffer a meltdown of massive proportions in Game 7, as the Pens would roar to a 4-0 lead after the first 35 minutes of play getting a pair of goals from Pavel Bure as well as markers from Sidney Crosby and Jordan Staal.

The Ducks would turn the tide after a change of goaltenders late in the 2nd period when Samuel Pahlsson would score twice in just 15 seconds to pull the Ducks to within just two of tying the Pens.

Todd Bertuzzi would score early in the 3rd giving the Ducks nearly an entire period to even the score and force OT, but Marc-Andre Fleury would have none of it as he would hold the fort, earning the Pens their first Stanley Cup since they were led to the promised land in 1992 by current head coach Mario Lemieux.

"Its fantastic to win this thing...no matter if you are on the ice or behind the bench, its really special. This is expecially nice because of kids like Sidney, Evgeni, and Jordan who've dreamed of this their entire lifes", said Lemieux of his 3rd Stanley Cup.

Before the Cup was awarded, the NHL crowned Pavel Bure as the Conn Smythe winner as he tallied 17 goals, 7 during the Finals, and 13 assists during the Pens 24 game run to the prize.

"Its an unforgetable feeling. I came close in 1994, but close leaves you scarred...this is just...I don't know...like a healing or something", remarked Bure who scored 16 goals in the Canucks playoff season of 1994.

The Pens will now reign as the Stanley Cup Champions till the big dance next season where a new winner will be crowned. Until then, let the kids dream.

"We want another one. This is so much better than I thought it would be", said Sidney Crosby who was 2nd on the team with 27 playoff points.

Key Stats

Bure 2 Goals (17) Assist
Crosby Goal (13) Assist
Sykora 2 Assists
Staal Goal (11)
Fleury 20/23

Pahlsson 2 Goal (5)
Bertuzzi Goal (8)
R&S Neidermeyer Assists
Bryzgalov 12/16 in 35:14
Giguere 9/9 in 24:46
