Columbus Blue Jackets | HLM24

Picked up a iPad on sale this week. And decided to download Hockey Legacy Manager 24 to get my hockey fix on the go. Not really sure how this dynasty reporting will go, whether weekly or monthly. One thing is for sure, it’ll be less graphic based and more text base, as recaps will be done via iPad and phone instead of computer.

——————

With the preseason over, the Blue Jackets wrapped it up going 3-5 including a 13-0 shutout by the New Jersey Devils with 22 year old Jet Greaves in net. Greaves preseason tryout didn’t last much longer as he’s been sent to AHL Cleveland.

Jack Roslovic, the 26 year old Columbus Ohio native led the Jackets during the pre season, scoring 7 points with 2 goals and 5 assists in his 4 pre season games.

Elvis Merzlikins will be the starter with Spencer Martin backing him up with Danii Tarasov on the injured list for the first month of the season with a knee injury.

Speaking injured list, the Blue Jackets will start the the season with five players on there.

Johnny Gaudreau opened the scoring for the Blue Jackets with 10:08 remaining in the first period before the Devils scored two of their own with Jack Hughes and Timo Meier scoring goals.

Gaudreau got his second of the game with 9:20 left in the third period before Alexander Holtz scored the game winner with just 2:12 remaining.

The Jackets also lost defenseman Zach Werenski with groin strain. He’s expected to miss 14 days. The Jackets added Jake Bean to the lineup to replace him.

The Coyotes opened the scoring with 2:13 remaining in the opening period. Barrett Haytin netted the goal. Lawson Crouse made it 2-0 with 12:32 remaining before new addition to the lineup Jake Bean netted his first of the season to get Columbus in the board 2-1 with 10:25 remaining in the second.

Nick Schmaltz closed out the scoring with just 1:38 remaining in the second period with Arizona on the power play for the 3-1 win.

The Blue Jackets offense finally came alive…unfortunately so did the offense for the visiting Colorado Avalanche, as a four goal first period helps them pick up the 6-5 win.

It took just 40 seconds for Colorado to get their first goal. And Mikko Rantanen scored two of the four goals in the first period.

Patrik Laine finally got Columbus on the board with 10:47 remaining before Johnny Gaudreau made it a two goal game six seconds later.

The Blue Jackets pulled to within one at the end of the second out scoring Colorado 2-1 in the middle period before each team swapped goals in the third.

The Blue Jackets closed out the week hosting the hated Pittsburgh Penguins. The game started well for Columbus, jumping out to a two goal lead on goals by Kent Johnson and Jack Roslovic.

The Penguins cut it to a one goal lead before the end of the period with a goal my Sidney Crosby. Alexandre Texier scored two goals in the second period stretch the lead to 4-1 before the 2nd intermission.

However a four goal third period by Pittsburgh, gave the Penguins the 5-4 win. Two of those goals came from Crosby who finished the game with three goals on nine shots.

Columbus jumped out to an early 2-0 with 5 minutes left in the first period. Adam Boqvist opened the scoring two minutes into the game with Columbus on the power play. Adam Fantilli and Jack Roslovic picked up the assists. 23 year old winger Kirill Marchenko made it 2-0 with 5:12 remaining. The Maple Leafs got one back with 3:32 remaining on a John Klingberg goal.

The lone goal in the second period was scored by Mitchell Marner to tie it at 2-2. Max Domi scored two goals in the third period sandwiched by a goal by Andrew Peeke for Columbus as Toronto picks up the 4-3 win.

The Columbus Bkue Jackets hosted the Las Vegas Golden Knights. The game started well for Columbus as Patrik Laine gave the Jackets the 1-0 lead just 9 seconds into the game. Unfortunately for Columbus fans, the lead wouldn’t last. Jack Eichel tied it at 1-1 with 12:53 remaining. William Carter closed out the scoring for Vegas with 2:30 remaining to head into the first intermission with the 2-1 lead.

It stayed that way until just under the midway mark of the third period when Eichel scored his second of the game to stretch the lead to 3-1. Elvis Merzlikins was in net for Columbus and stopped 34 shots for a .919 save percentage. Logan Thompson was in net for Vegas allowing just one goal on 30 shots for a .967 save percentage.

Shea Theodore picked up his 200th assist in the game. The bright spot is the Blue Jackets finally get young winger Yegor Chinakhov off the injured list for the first time this season. Tom make room for him the Jackets have put Mathieu Oliver on waivers with the intent to send him down to AHL Cleveland.

The Blue Jackets close out the week heading to Canada to visit the Edmonton Oilers. It was a night of offense as the Oilers double up the Jackets 6-3. Yegor Chinakhov made his mark in first game back off injured list, as he netted a goal with 16:52 left in the second period. Unfortunately for the Jackets they were trailing 5-1 at that time.

Aside from Chinakov, Jake Bean (10:11 left in first) and Justin Danforth (3:34 left in the second) were other two Jackets to score. Spencer Martin for the start for Columbus and make 37 saves for a .860 save percentage. Stuart Skinner was in net for Edmonton, making 27 saves for a .900 save percentage.

I'd have to check it out, really not sure. It was the one with the most downloads I believe. Figured it was the best to use.
