They’ll not be wanting to focus on making just an Arcade game with the level of data being used from TrackMan & Shotlink. That stuff will be nullified on Arcade when a power boost or post shot spin is applied. This game will be a Simulation & if it’s unbalanced out the gate I’m confident EA will revisit & adjust gameplay to suit.

EA is going to give us an outstanding career mode with real courses and 4 Majors. There's a market for that and 2K can't give us that. More than that, 2K career mode just... well you know. Trackman and Shotlink sounds nice but it's just going to be another gimmick, that maybe only 1% of customers buying the game will understand and care about.

So looking at the Lidar image they shared in the video and on the blog post, I went to google earth and to see where they scanned and they did include the par 3 course. You can see it with the two bodies of water in the top right...

I can appreciate all the work they've put into the courses and visuals. Authenticity has value, but I think that authenticity needs to extend beyond the superficial. To me this included more marketing fluff about how fantastic the ball physics play while showing some extremely questionable physics in motion. I realize I'm hating here, but they've been out of the golf game for a while. Things have moved beyond where we were in 2015.

Make it look nice; absolutely. The gameplay and mode depth/diversity is what's going to get people to stick around.

I couldn't agree with you more.

I'm not sure how others aren't finding some of these ball physics and rolls and going in the cup so easily while coming in HOT .... fairly suspect.

I'm worried EA doesn't understand that TGC (now the 2k game) and PG came along since their last release and showed us what proportional analog swings and full control can be like and how rewarding it can be.

Showing up with 8+ year old gameplay ideology is ... disappointing I guess?

(I'm still chapped from the "all new swing" talk that got nixed at some point)

Guys, seriously, lets be honest with ourselves
How much of this is really just recycled Rory?

See for yourselves in the Rory 15 video and don't miss the 0:41 mark and the 0:58 mark

https://youtu.be/xF4-XNQn9CM?t=41
https://youtu.be/xF4-XNQn9CM?t=58

Then go to 1:44 mark here on the video from today:

I mean, aren’t all ea sports game’s basically the same game every year? Not saying it’s right or wrong. Not sure what some folks were expecting. It’s a beefed up Rory, or what Rory should have been.

The tiger series has always been an arcade game from the beginning. It wasnt only until TW 10-14 that they started to add sim options.

It’s been the same with Madden the last three or so years. Just a roster update. Wonder if something was game breaking with the new swing system and they had to start over? Could be the reason for the delay

Does anyone know if the PC version will have the awful EA Anti Cheat? If so, I'll skip this. It's basically ruined FIFA for me on PC since it seems to crash quite often
