QB James Mauro- SO(RS): Strained Shoulder/ 1 week
Game Notes
Grambling opens up conference play on the road traveling to the state of Kentucky. Can the Tigers come out on top against one of the better teams in the Sun Belt and as of right now one of the better defenses? WKU is without starting QB James Mauro for this one but back up Damarucs Smith has played better than Mauro so far this season. How will this one turn out?

*Edit Blake is the starting QB for us this week, forgot to update that on our Depth Chart*

I guess in recruitment you have a huge amount of teams in Louisiana all going for the same in state guys?
I hope Blake can handle it as well. This will be a tough test on the road for his first start. Recruitment has been slow but we have some guys that we can hopefully land before the end of the season. Yes a lot of the battles we are in are with the better lower level schools in LA (Tulane, ULM,ULL and Southern). Thanks for checking in

Players Only Meeting night before the game

Laurence Sarria: We got to come together and play all Four Quarters like we want to win. We can't wait until we down and try to fight back in the second half!

Michael Roberson: I feel you. It has to start with us on the O-Line. We have to give the QB time to get the pass off or make holes to let the backs get yards.

Trae Jack: It's has to start with everyone! We have to do our part. We do that we play better as a whole. This can be a long season if we don't start playing better.

Sidney Cody: We have to do it 7 days a week. Practice, Film, Weights and Game.

Orlando Wilcox: Jeff we still need you as well. Even though coach name Blake as the starter. We need everyone to help us get better.

Jeff Farris: I got you. My time will come again. Right now I'm going to do what is asked of me.

Tramaine Blake: I need all of you. Jeff keep pushing me and help see things I missed. I can't lie my first start I'm nervous.

Bill Dailey: We got you. Just come out and play. Let everything else take care of it's self

Sidney Cody: Everyone just come out and play give 150%. Now let's get to the room before lights out big day tomorrow. We starting a new season.

Players only meetings already.... Its going to be spectacular one way or another. Will either come out and play lights out or shrink away into the background vs WKU.

Yeah it shocked me as well that they would call such a meeting already. I guess the leaders on this team couldn't take much more. As far as the WKU game it has been played just have to breakdown the video and post. Won't say how it turned out Thanks for checking in

Loved the recruiting write-up. Question for you, and sorry if this was addressed and I missed it -

Playing with Grambling, are you limiting yourself in regards to the racial make-up of your roster?

Thanks for checking in Geezy. I did the only black players when I was younger. In this Dynasty there will be no race divide in a effort to keep this as real as possible moving to FBS would come a change in kids interested

Re: #GRAMFAM: A Grambling State Dynasty (NCAA '14)

Bowling Green, KY: The Tigers traveled to Kentucky to start Conference Play. The team game out fired up after a players only meeting the night before. The first quarter was Defensive battle for both teams. The Hilltoppers would get on the board first when WR Brand was found wide open in the middle of the field by Smith for a long 54 yard TD. Grambling's Defense would not let it get to them as the proceeded to play good defense the rest of the quarter. In the 2nd Quarter Grambling's offense would get things rolling as Blake marched the team down the field on a scoring drive where he would get the team in the redzone and on 4th and Goal he would find Wilcox on the slant route for the score to tie the game up. Grambling's Defense would hold up and get the Offense the ball back. Blake would lead the G-Men to another score this time it would be Trae Jack taking it in for the score on a 3 yard run. Western Kentucky would try to score before the half on a Hail Marry pass as the clock hit zero but it would be intercepted by Cronin. The 3rd Quarter would be all WKU as the would put up 14 unanswered points on a 1 yard and 65 yard TD runs by Andrews. Grambling stayed the course and tied the game in the 4th on a screen pass to Pierce who would take it 29 yards for the score. With the clock running out Grambling would line up for the game winning field goal the kick is up and on track the bounces off the crossbar "We're headed to overtime folks!". The game would end up going to 3 overtimes. Both teams scoring TDs in the first OT. Followed by FGs in the 2nd OT. In the 3rd OT WKU would score and convert the 2-point conversion. Grambling would score on their first play of the 3rd OT. On the 2-pt try the pass would get knocked down to seal the victory for the Hilltoppers. Grambling loses a heart breaker.
