Though if there's an unrated/extended version, you'll only get to watch the theatrical. No biggie either way.

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1

I finally got to see Kurosawa's Seven Samurai It's a movie i've been wanting to see for the longest time and it sure as hell didn't disappoint.

The characters are very rich and the pace of the film is perfect. It's like you're actually there rather then watching a movie. I loved the way the Samurai interacted with each other and the peasants as well. The movie isn't dead serious all the time as one character Kikuchiyo is mercurial and a bit of a loose cannon. I loved his speech about the plight of the peasants after the samurai found out that the peasants had killed retreating samurai warriors in the past.

The relationships in the movie are what make it worth watching and if you've never seen this movie then be like me and get out and see it ASAP! it's one of the best movies i've ever seen.

I saw Seven Samurai a couple years ago and its definitely epic. I'm glad I watched Seven Samurai first and then the Magnificent Seven, though or else I'm not sure I would appreciated it as much as I do.

I've seen The Magnificent Seven before and while that's an amazing movie I think Samurai is a couple shades better. There's deeper subtext and the way the movie moves along is a bit better then the remake.

That's just my opinion

Saw The Hangover (Hilarious) and Lakeview Terrace (sort of crappy, but Jackson plays a great total jerk in it).

just watched Notorious last night. had to kick our pre-teen out the room ten min into the movie, but other wise I thought it was put together very well. good representative actors who weren't too B to pull off the role. it's still a sad reminder of the debacole the media made of the whole east vs. west coast and that it cost 2 very talented artist their life at such a young age.
